"In other words, Dr. Abrams is claiming that there is evidence to support the contention that electronic cigarettes are preventing many smokers from quitting. If not for their use of electronic cigarettes, they would have quit smoking.

The Rest of the Story

First, and most importantly, there is simply no evidence to support this contention. It is essentially "manufactured" evidence. There is no study which has shown that electronic cigarettes are preventing smokers from quitting: that is, that without electronic cigarette use a substantial number of vapers would have instead quit smoking."

Anti tobacco people aren't normal people. They are on a crusade.

I vape all day long. The VA Hospital put me down as a non-smoker in my medical jacket 2 years ago. I was vaping in his office when he made the change to the records.

They would insist that I haven't quit smoking. My pulmonary doctor thinks otherwise, my PFT shows otherwise.

goes to show that idiot...I did not even care about quitting until I picked up vaping...I was content with smoking and had I not started vaping I would still be smoking.

I, on the other hand, was having issues with lung health. I really wanted to stop smoking, but whenever I stopped (or even cut down on) nicotine, I couldn't function due to cognitive and mood impairments. I used to say my prayers at night, asking God to send me a way to stop smoking (and regain my physical health) without having to sacrifice my intellect and emotional health.

I would still be smoking--and might have needed to lug around an oxygen tank by now--if it were not for e-cigarettes.

and for you it still worked...This guy really needs to do his homework and look at all of us who either by nesesity(your case), by choice, or by curiosity and accident(my case) we have all quit smoking due to our vape toys and all have better health because of it....I am not sure why all of these anti ecig people are coming out of the wood works lately but they need to leave us alone.

I never once had any intention of quitting smoking. Fact is I like my nicotine and the way it affects my nervous system. Just like I like my caffeine and chocolates. I switched to e-cigs out of concern for my smell. I had been smoking a rather good smelling filtered-cigar brand for nearly 10 years when the tobacco tax hikes finally drove that brand out of business. I could not find a suitable replacement in the tobacco products left available. Yet, kept smoking the stinky stuff for a good year. Then my sister handed me an e-cig to try. It was love at first vape. Fact is I wasn't going to quit nicotine products before e-cigs. If I don't quit after it makes little difference. My smell is inoffensive and that is what matters most to me.

They are responding to their masters who fund them. We are making inroads on their business plans, we are quitting and staying quit and not using NRT's. We are getting healthier and many of us will go on with our lives without smokers diseases costing obscene amounts of money for drugs to combat them. We are multiplying exponentially and they can see the writing on the wall for their financial future. The masters are getting lathered up and yanking on the puppet's strings.

I totally agree with you!!!! I was there, too.
I will be at 10 weeks analog free tomorrow morn. I have quit many times, but could not "stay quit". I don't know what to do with myself as a nonsmoker. Vaping has filled the void for me, as well as for my son who just "accidently" quit after getting an Ego and finding satisfaction from that.
The improvement in my health, breathing, hacking/coughing, is absolutely tremendous since swithching totally to vaping.
I was put to the test last weekend and I was not even tempted to pick up an analog. Was vaping away, surrounded by burning analogs. They were choking me up and making me a bit nauseaus to be around them. I am a happy vaper now.......
