when i smoke an analogue, by the time the cig is nearly done, i _want_ to put it down. i don't really chain smoke. is it the same with e-cigs?

I chain smoked so I chain vape. There really isn't a good answer for this but it seems to be different with each person. The strength on nic you use will also determine how often you vape. Use higher and vape less, use lower and vape more. It all depends on what you want to do.

i know with e-cigs the nicotine takes longer to get into the bloodstream, but besides that are there any other factors?

Just how fast it gets into you varies again and it also depends on the nic strength and whether you use more pg or vg. One of them carried nic better than the other but for the life of me, I can't remember which.

i watched a youtube vid with someone vaping and after two hits he was out of breath when he spoke - is this common?

If the person in the video has some sort of advanced lung damage, I would say yes. However, I smoked 4 packs a day and don't breathe hard anymore even when chain vaping.
