As I patiently await the sub-ohm kits to come in, I already know that along with the kits I'll be ordering for my two current Grands, a brand new Tumbled Raw LP Grand shall be accompanying them in that USPS box.
I just received an un-engraved Copper Nemesis clone last week, and the way the patina is forming on it... oh boy is it ever gorgeous.
A Nemesis is NOT a Reo though. I really only vape my Reo's.
However, my curiosity got the best of me and I had to see what a copper mod would be like. lol
Now I am absolutely obsessed with the idea of owning a real copper plated Reo. OBSESSED!!!
Imagine it though guys, a real copper plated Reo Grand....
I've looked into it this evening, and found this nice little blog:
High Quality (and Safe) Copper Plating
According to the blog, aluminum would first need to be nickel plated in order for copper plating to really adhere.
For a price, I know I could send it to a place in the UK and have them do it... but where's the fun in that? They do excellent work though, as seen in this pic:
Just starting this thread to see if anybody can chime in, and knows more than I do (nothing) about electroplating metals. It doesn't seem terribly difficult at all to do this at home... actually seems like a fun little project.
Apparently, it's not the most rugged or reliable layer to have on. Not to be used daily with wear and tear... but it can't be any worse than paint right? If you DIY it, is it something that can be maintained? Can you say, electroplate something once a year to give it a fresh coat?
Your thoughts? Wishful thinking? A Pipedream?
