Elevation and the resulting pressure changes should be considered when taking tank systems with you.
I recently flew with a filled carto tank in my fleece breast pocket. By the end of my trip my fleece smelled nicely of vanilla and my t-shirt had a big brown stain. Even though the cabin is pressurized, enough changes took place to push the liquid out through the carto and all over me. I've never had them leak just driving around town.
I've had similar experiences when driving over mountain passes and such with my REO bottom-feeder. juice would be forced out over the course of a couple thousand feet. Even riding the ski lift up caused some minor leakage in my coat pocket. Climbing Pike's Peak in CO in the car was a mess with the REO.
Now if I'd been using the devices at the time it would've minimized the leakage through my usage. But sometimes it's just not convenient enough.
Just a word of warning.

I've had similar things happen when I flew with plastic bottles of liquid in my luggage. The fix is to carry partially filled bottles, squeeze the air out, and then tighten the cap. Expansion won't be as radical. You can't do that with a carto, though.

I vape plain old Boge cartos and recently went from 300 feet above sea level to over 6000 elevation in North Carolina. Granted, that was by car, thus a slower rate of ascent and descent, but still a significant change in elevation over 6 hours. Tanks are prone to leak anyway, even the carto tanks. I can see that happening in an airplane. I used to walk around with a type B tank on an eGo in my pocket and was constantly experiencing leaks from body heat thinning and expanding the juice. It's not a fun thing to have happen.

I have a DCT carto tank that I use sometimes. I guess I won't carry it filled on an airplane! I can see a carto tank equalizing to a lower pressure on the way up and then pressurizing on the way down, pushing out liquid into the carto. Thanks for the heads up.

Only time I ever had problems with leakage was when I flew with filled vivi Nova tanks. All 3 of the tanks leaked and I lost about 4 ml of juice all together. Luckily I had them in an extra baggie inside the liquids bag so the stuff didn't get all over everything. That was in my carry-on, I'll see what happens on an international flight next month......... Never had cartos inside my Phiniac tanks leak, flown with those multiple times domestic. I will definitely NOT fill Vivi tanks before leaving for Europe but I will fill 2 of my Phiniac tanks to have as soon as I touch down. Too chicken to risk vaping on the plane.. LOL!

I have yet to take one of my instrument lessons with my PV in my pocket, but probably will next week or so. Will have to make sure it's vertical and 1/2 empty. I do know (because we went out for breakfast last week) that my flight instructor is thrilled that I have switched to this.

And I am so sorry that I subjected him to probably 20 IMMEDIATE pre-flight analog smoke "odor fest's" as I always had a nerve calming smoke prior to a lesson during my pre-private pilot days. Sitting 6 inches apart in a Cessna 172 and one of the occupants being a non-smoker and the other a 3 PAD heavy smoker is going to be sorta gross for the non-smoker.
