I recently purchased and started using my first e-cig. I thought that I would take this opportunity to write my first review from the perspective of someone new to vaping. Also I haven't noticed any other reviews on Elumacigs so thought this might help contribute to the completeness of the review library at ECF.

I should note that I bought my first kit based on the fact that a friend has one and recommended it to me. I did very little research before placing my order other than some casual browsing.

The kit I ordered was the Eluma "Complete" starter kit from elumacigs.com. The kit comes with two automatic batteries, one atomizer, one e-pack (PCC), a USB and an AC charger, and twenty-five prefilled cartridges. The kit is available in either black or white, I chose black.

The regular price on the kit is $79.99, first time customers receive $10 off, but after paying for priority mail shipping the total price was back up to near $79.

I placed my order on a Tuesday night pacific time, my order was shipped the next morning, Wednesday, and I received it on Friday. I did receive an email when my order was shipped with a tracking number which I always appreciate. All emails that I received in regards to my order appear to have been automatically generated by the shopping cart software. I didn't have any direct communication with their customer service, however they shipped my order in a timely manner, which satisfied my expectations.

Everything appeared to be in the kit as ordered and it came in what I would describe as professional packaging.
Certainly not my advice, but I hate reading instructions especially if it appears to be something that I can easily figure out, so I didn't in this case.As soon as I had everything unwrapped I put one of the batteries on the AC charger. Once the battery was charged I didn't have any trouble assembling the unit.

I was given an option of flavors for my carts, I chose the variety back with menthol since I smoke menthol analogs. The menthol was the first flavor that I tried. I was expecting a little closer to the taste of an analog menthol but found the flavor to be closer to that of spearmint gum. Not a bad taste actually. I have stated elsewhere in the forums here that I did not order my e-cig with the intention of giving up analogs, and I have continued to smoke them. However my consumption has gone down significantly. I'll admit at this point I may not quite analogs altogether because I really do enjoy the taste of a menthol analog and I'll likely need to find an e-cig flavor that comes close to that in order to satisfy that desire.

As far as the vaping experience I initially got mixed results. Occasionally lots of vapor and sometimes very little. After a few days I realized it was all in my technique. Once I figured it out, I was able to get a satisfying amount of vapor consistently.

The claim from Eluma was that a cart would take the place of a pack of analogs. I later read here and some other places that the estimate is generally overrated. However I have found that a single cart will last close to a full day, which is actually pretty close to being a full pack of analogs at my normal rate of consumption.

As far as flavor goes, I already mentioned the menthol and it is certainly the strongest of the flavors I got with my kit. I also received chocolate, vanilla, cherry, and coffee flavors. The coffee I can barely taste at all, the chocolate and vanilla are kind of in the middle, and the cherry is fairly decent.

The battery life also seems to be very good and usually get close to a full day from one charge.

As I mentioned I did initially have some issues with my vaping technique. In addition to inconsistent vapor I also got a somewhat "plastic" taste. This all caused me to assume the Eluma was not a very good unit and I did end up ordering a joye 510, before I realized it was me and not my e-cig that was the problem. After I figured out the correct vaping technique my vaps have become satisfying, I'm getting the throat hit, and the plastic taste has gone away.

All in all, I think the Eluma is a decent unit and performs as advertised. Battery and cart life seem to be pluses to me with this unit, however at $80 it is on the expensive side of other alternatives.

Now that I also have a 510 I can make some comparisons there. The amount of vapor produced by the 510 completely blows the Eluma away. However I am still getting better and more lasting vapor flavor from the Eluma.

I just went to the website and the cartridge boxes and everything look exactly like the blu just has a different name

I just found the Blu web site and yes it looks very much the same. The PCC, the box the carts come in, and the whole box everything comes are the same but with a different logo. The attys are very different and the price for the blu is $20 less than what I paid.

Actually when I placed my first order, I goggled "electric cigarette" and the three or four sites that came up that I went to, all appeared to be selling nearly the same product.

I got the impression, e-cigs were mostly a commodity so I didn't spend much more time researching. I'm guessing Eluma, Blu, and potentially several other "brands" are all marketed by the same company.

My impression is that Eluma is a very "corporate" type of shop, slick packaging, style over quality, call customer service and the guy says his name is John but speaks with a thick Indian accent, etc Whereas most of the vendors participating here are the small business type. Less glam, but significantly better customer service and personal experience.

Based on my personal preferences of course... the Eluma Cig is my second favorite smoke. First being a Joye 510.

But that was a good review for a first time user.

Wow ! I dont think I've ever read a more complete write up on a product ! Especially one that hardly anyone has even heard of b4..

Strange, but why did you buy the Eluma if the Blu was $20 cheaper (knowing they all appeared to be selling nearly the same product)

Well thank you :)

Up until about an hour ago I didn't know that the blu was $20 cheaper, I had heard it mentioned once before but when someone in this thread mentioned that it appeared to be exactly the same as the Eluma, curiosity made me go take a look :)

That being said, even had I known about the blu before hand there is a good chance I might have still got the Eluma. Seems that a lady friend has one and her recommendation was the entire reason I decided to check out e-cigs in the first place. I tend to be easily influenced that way ;)

I have the Eluma also and overall I am quite happy with it. I purchased it based on a recommendation of a friend of a friend, prior to finding this forum. I looked at both the Blu and the Eluma before deciding. They do look quite similar but the Blu seems to have shorter battery life and its cartridges equal about 5-7 cigarettes. I don't think Eluma quite equals a full pack but I'd say its equal to around 12-15. I did smoke 100s before though so that could be why it seems a bit less to me. The longer battery and cartridge life is why I purchased the Eluma over the Blu.

My reason for purchasing Eluma was to give up analogs. Today is day 11 of being analog free for me. I'm was a 1.5-2 pack a day smoker for over 20 years. I have never been able to quit for more than a couple of days so I'm amazed about how well its worked for me.

It doesn't seem to be a popular brand on this forum but for me its been a great find. I may look to purchase another brand in the future based on reading the forum but its mainly curiosity at this point and not any problems with Eluma itself.

I quit analogs with the Eluma over a month ago - best decision I ever made! Their flavors are actually really good, my favorite is the menthol too. I started out with the complete starter kit - menthol variety and the cherry and chocolate are my next favorite flavors. They also have a simple starter kit for only $29.99 that a few of my friends have/are trying...being able let them try it and show them how it works has really convinced them to get their own kit.

Wish their parts were compatible with some other models, but all in all a great little kit to start vaping, because once you are off the analogs - you realize vaping is so much more pleasurable than smoking ever was!

I have an Eluma kit as well and both like it and use it.

One thing I've found from research is that it most closely resembles a DSE902- which is the supposed successor to the 901.

I've been planning on ordering a 902 kit to compare to tell for sure. Or just use the 902 for myself.

It does produce a lot of good vapor when properly cared for. And I like their flavors as well (the tobacco seems just a tad off of Dekang Tobacco).

I did a vid on atomizer maintenance which shows Eluma vapor production at the end:

Nice video cozzican...thanks for all the great info!

I used my Eluma all day at work today and the vapor is just incredible compared to my KR8. I'm not one that needs to see a lot of vapor to be satisfied...but I know others are and when I show others how vaping works, they are always very impressed with how my Eluma vapes!

I put in a new pre-filled cart in my Eluma this morning (approx 11 hours ago) and I'm still vaping on it without needing to add any juice! Only had to recharge the battery once and that was after I got home from work. The Eluma is a great e-cig in my book and has helped me kick a 25 yr PAD habit - now I'm converting as many of my family & friends as I can to vaping and so far 4 have made the plunge and are on the Eluma-bandwagon! :vapor:

Thank you cozzicon. I followed your video instructions and it worked wonderfully. So much better than having to keep blowing it out, etc.

I don't get anywhere near 11 hours on a battery. I'd estimate about 3-4 hours with pretty heavy usage which I find to work out fine because I have multiple batteries. I like the size of the Eluma and wouldn't want something much larger which seems to be needed for extended battery life. As for the vapor, I think there is a lot. I don't have anything to compare to but I do see myself needing much more of a cloud than the Eluma has.

I like the flavors other than chocolate (shockingly!). I wish they would expand and have more flavors available.

My only issue with Eluma is that at times I find it a bit inconsistent. There are times when I feel like I am puffing on air and not getting much then all of a sudden it kicks back in and starts working fine again. I don't think I am doing anything differently when this happens but its possible. It doesn't happen daily and I cannot see any reason why it occurs. A bit of an annoyance but not enough that its tainted my opinion of the product overall.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker and today is day 14 of being smoke free and Eluma has been the reason. Two friends have purchased after trying mine and one quit immediately and the other cut down her smoking to half (each has had theirs about a week).

I saw the 902 on Modern Vapor's site and thought it looked just like the Eluma but I'm new at this and its really hard for me to tell which models are like others. If you do try it I'd love to read posts from anyone that has used both to see if people feel one is better than the other.

You are welcome...

Here's a trick with the Eluma... The cartridges are foil sealed and designed to be pierced by the atomizer. That doesn't always allow it to wick effectively.

When the atomizer perforates the foil, it doesn't make a large hole. So I found a solution.

Use a paper clip around the edges and remove the foil completely, then make sure the wicking material is at the top of the cartridge. If not... pull it up a little with the paper clip.

Then insert the cartridge.

First of all, just let me say that I ordered the big starter kit - non menthol - 11mg. At first I was so thrilled that I signed up to be an affiliate. Yeah, the flavors were pretty weak but we all know what to do about that. Anyway, less than two weeks after I got my kit I realized that I had a bad battery...

There is no such thing as personal customer service. What you get when you call is an 'operator' who tells you that customer support is handled via email to save money. As an affiliate, this concerned me greatly. So I wrote them an email asking for a new battery. They advertise a 100% satisfaction guarantee but as I soon found out it has loopholes you could drive a truck through.

After sending my email to every contact address I could find, I got a total of nine identical automated emails. Finally After a few days, someone called me back. I then spent about 20 minutes going through a 'troubleshooting' session where he decided I had a bad atty. I know it isn't the atty but there was no arguing with him.

I asked how to get it replaced. He said I needed a return authorization, (there is a handling fee charged for this,) then I needed to return it and if they decided that it was a manufacturing defect and not caused by my having carried it in my purse or shirt THEN they'd send me a new one. Every single return is reviewed this way. How can you fight that?

Can you say corporate with a capital "C"?!?

I tried to find out more about the company and he was very cagey. When I asked him if I could call back as a journalist and interview him about Eluma it seemed to throw him. Then he offered me a $10.00 credit to just order another atty. I'm sure they'll charge me the $7+ dollar shipping fee.

Bottom line: don't waste your time. Basically it is an auto 510 with so/so flavors - worse for non-menthol. Vapor can vary from cart to cart as does the amount of vaping time. There is nothing special enough about it to warrant the hassle over defective parts and the guarantee is worthless as there is no way to prove you didn't put it in your pocket or purse.

I don't expect them to stay around very long. Especially when there are so many great suppliers out there who really care about repeat business.

They only good thing I have to say is that their charge pack, which is as big, if not bigger than an analog pack, has a great little directed beam flashlight on the end. You could use it to change a cart or refill and bother no one. Would someone let me know if it compatible with my 510s?
