So guys and gals I am really embarrassed to even ask these questions but I have to. I have to be 100% sure I get all the right stuff and info I need before I attempt (MY) impossible LOL! So here we go :(
I have your basic mod chips :
PTR08100 PENDING
PTN4050CAD + CAH PENDING
UCC283T-ADJ = SOLVED
PTR08600 PENDING

The most thing(s) I need are shopping lists.Caps, resistors,Pot, and anything not common to the"usual" mod Why? you ask. Because funds are very limited and I can not afford to buy the wrong things :( I understand this will be trial and error for me but I would really like more trial then more error :/
PTR08100 & PTR08600 to my understanding are the same setup PENDING
2 100uf 10v tantalum caps
1 220ohm 1/4 watt resistors
1 200ohm 1/2 watt resistor
1 200ohm Pot
Is this correct? Should I get higher caps and resistors? Where can I get a push button POT?

PTN4050CAD & CAH PENDING
2 100uf 16v Electrolytic caps or
2 180uf 25v Electrolytic caps
No resistor(s)
1 250Kohm Pot
Are they the same setup? What is the higher performing setup? Pot,Resistor, and caps list needed :( ?

UCC283T-ADJ = SOLVED
Schematic link? Have yet to see one (sorry). Really stumped on this one.

Voltmeter SOLVED
If I have to pay 6.99 at MV for it I will but if there is a cheaper or a better version out there I would rather go that route.

all MODS will have switch, Volt meter, 2 LED's, on/off, and I'm going RCA 510 connectors :)

I know these are horrible questions and why even build them if I need to ask right! Well thats simple to answer: To have the pride of knowing I built that :) As I know most of you have felt or would like to feel :D
Again sorry everyone but I really needed to do this and thank you so much in advance.

P.S. I don't need stores except for the voltmeter or pushbutton Pot. I just need conformation on the right size caps and resistors.

Quite the undertaking for a first time mod! Remember to get stripboard pcb. Most how tos use this kind. I on the other hand bought the wrong kind (point to point) and made it harder on myself, although it can still be done. Digi Key is a good store to look for parts. Cheap and good selection. If you want to use a 510 connector... I would suggest buying them from madvapes as opposed to trying to get an rca jack to work. Much easier in my experience. Rca jacks are normally used for 801? connectors, plus it is cheaper just to buy the correct part. The caps should be tantalum 100v 10uf and the resistors 220ohm 1/4 watt and 200ohm 1/2 watt. There are other options depending on input voltage but this is a good place to start on a 3AA box evercool.

Thanks for the info Ted :) Now on the caps and resistors you mentioned can they be used for all or just the evercool's?
I wasn't planning on doing all the Mods at once just maybe starting with the UCC283 if thats even possible. Seems like that could be a good starting point for me. I just need "all parts" so that I can budget plan and make it a 1 shot deal. As I know to well that if I don't do that something will come up that will deter me from having all the parts LOL

The TI 283/383 linears are fine and very durable regulators. Probably the bulk of the 5V and VV mods out there are MadVapes specials, all linear.

You could very quickly knock out your first VV and get a taste.

here's a quick and easy setup (I borrowed Mamu's pic).

AWESOME!!!! WillyB :) I have seen your infamous name around the Mod Forum in the million two pages that I have read LOL Thank you so much for the schematic buddy =) exactly what I was looking for and it is quite a easy intro Mod for me.
1 question though : Is there a limit on what this chip can handle being VV and all?

I cannot confirm that those are all the parts but those are the parts I am seeking as well.

I have the caps, switch, resistors and box just waiting on chip, pcb, pot and connectors.

I have looked through so many threads they all seem to jumble together now LOL I can't seem to figure which way is up anymore and I was so sure before :(

Lol I understand trust me :D

What I can tell you is the caps used for the 4050 should be Electrolytic and if you are going to use a single battry should be about 12v so what you are looking for is 100uf Electrolytic 12v caps. I could be wrong but that is what I pulled of the data sheet from TI and those caps can be bought at radio shack for $1.19 ea.

It should just be a booster and you should not need a pot as it will turn your 3.7v battery to 5v

LOL I looked at the data sheet(s) and wow I just realized how much that stuff makes absolutely no sense to me hahahaha I am no electrician thats for sure but I am handy with any tool :)
So what your saying with the Pot is that the 4050 is non adjustable it should be a 5v. Is it the capability of the chip or is that the best performing setup. shoot I'll go either way LOL

ok wait just reread the TI sheet it does say Operating over a 2.95V to 5.5V input range, the PTN04050C provides high-efficiency, step-up voltage conversionfor loads of up to 12W. The output voltage is set using a single external resistor so I am wrong sorry. I just haven't found which one yet.

No biggie because as you can tel I'm a lil' doopty doop right now  But I really appreciate your help I couldn't do this alone in a million years.

Ordered on 12-30-2011, recieved the first one on Saturday the 14th. Not too terrible. I did not realize they shipped all items separately. Not sure if I got the best deal, but for 12 bucks I got 3 of them, which if you are looking at mvapes then I got a pretty good deal as they charge 6 bucks or so a pop. Have not hooked it up yet, but as I said it was a recommendation from someone that has some weight here.
