Last night after dinner, I wound up with a bag full of dead batts and gunky 510 cartomizers! I put a few batts on the charge and tried to resign myself to waiting. That never works. About a half hour later, I found myself screwing one of the two unused attys that came with my Riva into an old automatic mall-stick batt that just happened to still have a charge. I then tried to fill up one of the kit’s cartridges which worked, but produced only enough vapor to frustrate me.

I decided that the atty was starving, so I dripped two drops of juice directly into the atty, and put the cart back on. WOW! Eight or ten GREAT hits, then… nada. After a couple rounds of that, I decided to “convert” the cart to a drip tip. I removed the cover, stuffing, and a little ring part, but there was still a “floor” cross- piece obstructing the tube. I could not be removed, even with a punch awl, but I managed to bend it off to one side enough to keep it out of the way.

Next, I put the tube back on the atty and direct-dripped three drops onto the wick. The third drop drowned the atty and it would not do anything but gurgle at that point. Now, I’m determined, so I mopped up with a q-tip, and BINGO, another eight or ten great hits. After that, I tried two drops, and that turned out to be the best amount, producing 12 -15 really great hits with a pronounced increase in flavor.

I would not put me down for a dripper just yet; The carto route has too many practical advantages, but it is nice to know it will be there If I need it.
