I get the feeling that the "e-cig" has been devised and developed in China.

The problem with the Chinese is that they don't seem to understand marketing i.e. creating different products at different price points with point of differentiation. Or quality.

What we now need is a Japanese company to come along and perfect the engineering - that's what they're good at, I understand. Deming.

Then we need some Europeans or North Americans to come along and perfect the design and innovate a bit more.

Thoughts?

the product is chinese and it does have problems.. but the chinese can make nice things their main problem seems to be quality control.. i have tons of cheap chinese tools.. well made things that can be let down cos of a cream cheese screw.. they seem to get the important bits right and mess up on the lesser things..

having said that the wiz bang 4 gigahertz computer i am typing this on is mostly made in china.. so are lots of things with expensive western brand names on em..

strange folks the chinese.. bless em..

I'm not really talking about the manufacturing - as we know, most products seem to be manufactured in China these days.

I meant the R&D, design, engineering and product development aspects of it. Europeans and Americans are good at inventing, innovating and designing; Japanese are good at perfecting the processes; Chinese do the manufacturing.

I guess what I'm thinking is that to get away with using these devices in pubs and on planes, in airports, in office building etc - it would be good to have the "stealth e-cig". Doesn't look like a cigarette, and no "lookee likee" smoke. That would be one version for the purpose of getting around the ban. Other people might prefer models that do look like cigarettes. And so on.

Also, sounds like the nicotine solutions could be improved ...

Anyway, maybe I'll shut up until I can actually get my hands on one!

didnt read this post and put a new one up that addresses this.

Yes, my concerns are drawing high tech vapour deep into lungs, what are the health effects? Seems like a lot of dodgy oriental businessmen that are cashing in big time. But at what cost to us? My mind is far from made up yet and will not be for a long while. This thing has not been really tested. They seem to fall apart in a week ffsake. Does this inspire confidence? erm...

u ask too much.. my nasty smokers cough disappeared instantly thats good enough for me.. and soon our government will ban the things for the very reason u state.. plus a few others..

risk it or dont risk it.. the choice is yours..

the fact they fall apart is made up for by the fact they are cheap.. buy a few spares..

thanks trog, i will deffo give it a shot. But the more we demand a better product, the quicker we will get it. I didnt mean to sound so negative.

i think for the money some of them are a good product.. as i keep saying view them all as disposable items.. order enough spares with the initial order.. just factor in the spares in the overall running costs..

i recon i can run one for about a six quid a week allowing for an atomizer at a fiver lasting two or three weeks.. a batteries at 8 quid every four or five weeks.. and liquid or syringed pipe carts from e-cig china at 20 pence per ml..

being mean i am trying to get the price down.. he he

trog

ps.. the real cheapy option would be e-cig cigarillos (or cigars) from china at 4.5 quid per atomizer and off the shelf batteries for 1.5 quid each.. if i can get them to last for two weeks.. my last lot didnt.. he he
