Hello Everyone!

This is my first post, but I have been reading along for awhile now. I looked at the calendar last night and realized, as of today, I have been smoke free for 4 weeks!!! Time to finally register and say hello!

I was a closet 1pk/day smoker for the last 6+ years. I hate even admitting that, which is a good indication of how closeted I was. I wasn't fooling anyone other than myself while I was miserably cowering in my garage freezing or roasting in shame and stench to get my fix. Not pretty, huh. My husband was my partner in crime, but it's not his fault that I started, or that I didn't quit.

At any rate, we'd wrecked our longest (~6 month) quit and I was miserable at the prospect of having to start all over. What began as splitting a pack to get through a stressful day drifted right back to where we were before, and the difficulty breathing, painful sinuses, cough, and stench we tracked into the house were all back too.

In another corner of the internet I heard about the eGo-C's. Husband was skeptical, but I couldn't face gum, patches, climbing the walls, and gaining 10 more pounds. I ordered myself a kit. It showed up while I was out of town, and he cracked it open and gave it a try. He had his own on the way by the time I got back. :)

Over the course of these four weeks we've moved from eGo-C's with whistle tips to clearos and Twists. Our first Vivi Minis just arrived (they rock!!), and yesterday I ordered some of the new Phoenix Ravens to try out. I've tried all sorts of juices, some big hits (AVE Flue Cured, Chai, and Hype in particular) and some big misses. Taste is subjective though, so that's to be expected. May try my hand at some DIY before too long.

vaping is amazing. I don't feel like I have given up anything. Wait, that isn't true. I have given up shame, stench, 100's of cancer causing chemicals, tracking second hand smoke into the house where my kids and pets live, throwing money at big tobacco, yellowing teeth, and declining health. I traded those in for a harm reducing hobby that gives me the tools I need to stay away from analogs, the fun of buying gear and testing out flavors, and the support and information from the community here.

This is a great forum. Thanks so much to all of you for all the helpful, encouraging, knowledgeable posts you all make here every day, and to the vendors for their great products and care for their customers. You've been a great help to me and my family.

So glad you joined the forum, Rhubarb Pie. And I'm even more excited for you and your husband quitting the analogs and enjoying vaping. I was a pack a day smoker for 30 yrs. I was so far into the addiction that I wasn't even able to try to do it in the closet. Vaping has given me a new lease on life and my health has been so much better. Every now and then I think about this horrible post nasal drip I used to live with, and it's totally been gone and that is a wonderful thing. Glad you joined us! Spread the word about vaping!

Congrats, very impressive! I'm on week 4 as well and I agree it feels like I'm not missing anything. In some respects, I actually like vaping more since you get to leave out the stench on clothes and breath, and we get all these flavors to try.

Thanks! Congratulations to you too!

Thank you for your warm welcome. I have begun posting a bit about vaping other places, hoping it will help spread the word same as it was spread to me. Also, husband found out there is another beginner vaper at his office, and I'm always telling him about things to tell her about I've learned here. I don't think she really wants to talk about it though, or maybe she thinks he is being a creeper.

Vaping has been such a revelation, I am ready to tell anyone who is interested all about it.

Welcome to the forum, it truly is a great place to get info/interact with other vapers. It has definally saved me some money to. I love vaping probably more than I ever did smoking, it's way more of a hobby than smoking ever was that's for sure. I had a cig on the weekend while camping just to see what it would be like...it was aboutly disgusting, had 3 puffs and was done, they just don't do anything for me anymore at all.

It is so inspiring to me to hear how many people have been successful thanks to vaping. Thanks for the welcome and sharing your experiences.

That's great! Intellectually I am there, but I wouldn't be ready to try it out yet. I believe I will get there. In the mean time, :vapor: :vapor: :vapor:

So true, like Birdmann said. From time to time I have actually tried an analog and after 2-3 puffs I just can't smoke them anymore. That right there is a true miracle to me! I never would have thought I could ever think that about them. I just don't like the vapor, the feel of the inhale or the flavor. And then my hand feels like I can't get rid of the stench. LOL. Then I go right back to vaping my Vanilla Cream from Clouds of Vapor. YUM! lol. Massive vapor! Vaping is my miracle.

Congratulations on a month! It just gets easier and more fun all the time (for me, anyhow.) It's been two years and two months for me, and it's still amazing and FUN. I couldn't/wouldn't smoke a cigarette now if you paid me! Give it a little time to completely "gel" then give it a try....you'll be amazed at how nasty they really are. A big part of my success has been the support system going on in this forum. Glad to meet you.
