Hello all,Was wondering if vaping instead of smoking would be worse for the tissues of the esophagus .Reading how the vape is absorbed into the body differently than smoking has me a touch confused, never had the dry throat issue from vaping.Asking my doc seems like it would only produce a "stop that now, are you slow?" response.Only vape once or twice a week(6mg proof) have no desire to smoke analog again but really like to vape and don't want to worry too much about doing it so if there is any one with guidance that would be great.

I have seen ZERO studies that have shown any long term ill-effects to the body where Nicotine, water, and PG are concerned.

However, some people seem to have allergic reactions to PG and switch to VG or a combination that cuts the concentration of PG with VG.

Some people seem to confuse normal symptoms of quitting analogs with adverse reactions to vaping.

When it comes to the flavorings, I imagine that's anyone's guess since I can't seem to find any research on intentional inhalation of e-cig flavoring substances.

If you want to be as safe as possible, vape only unflavored solutions comprised of pure nicotine, H2O and PG.

That's my guess at the questions you're asking.

WARNING: I am not a doctor, health care specialist, biologist, chemist, or expert.

I believe that though e-cigarettes are not 'safe', they are indeed safer than smoking actual cigarettes. I don't think that PG/VG would have long-term adverse effects, especially compared to tobacco smoke. If you are concerned, you should talk to your doctor. He/She may give you some warnings, but will probably echo my statement that they are most likely safer than inhaling combustion products of tobacco.

Frankly, if you can't talk to your doctor about it, then you need a new doctor. I talked to my doctor and he was pleased that I switched. But even if he wasn't, I still would talk to him about it. He's my health adviser, that's what he gets paid for. Ultimately, my health decisions are mine, but I depend on him to give me good advise about stuff that he knows more about than I do. If you don't like to go to the doctor or tell him or her everything going on because you fear judgment, then move on and get a new doc.

I agree, Im undergoing continuous studies for pulmonary nodules and my pulmonologist asked all abt my ecig use and now endorses it to other lung patients that need to get away from the smokes. My health has improved dramatically, but the real test (nodules wise) will be in Feb when I go for my 2nd scan sonce the switch, the first was only a month into vaping and went unchanged. Im hoping that the effects of being a non smoker will help improve my results...but as for vaping, I dont really know if its helping or hurting me, only that with lung tests...Ive shown dramtic improvement breathing wise. The nodules may or not be affected by the vape/smoke but I have a sneaky suspicion 23 yrs of smoking may have caused my issues. Since vaping, I no longer use inhalers for athsma, have a "burning chest" or regular heartburn. I admit at first i DID get the PG "aches" but water intake helped that and the dry throat. Im now 7mnths into vaping and by Feb it will be longer and Im exciited to see what changes may have occured internally :)

I have read many of your posts and feel like I know you a bit. You are kind with your advice and have a positive outlook. I will be thinking good thoughts for you. Have you had you Vitamin D3 level checked, by any chance??

thanks all,Great advice for sure. Not really suppose to see my doc for a year as my last checkup was all good.Had a throat issue that went well but not suppose to get another look in(uppper endoscopy) till next fall(different doctor).I will bring it up with my regular doc but not till I have my annual checkup ,sick,or hurt whichever comes first.May everyone have as much of a smoke free new year as they desire.
