I was wondering if anyone has tried engraving a REO by hand yet. If so how soft is the aluminum? I've been contemplating getting a tumbled LP to go along with my Grand and experimenting on it, but would like to know if any one has had any experience attempting this?

What a lovely idea! Maybe you could practice on a couple of doors to hone your skills a bit.
I guess those two words aren't interchangable now that i re-read the post. I meant engrave them. I know aluminum is soft, but I didn't know if it had been hardened in the process or what not. Kind of afraid to test out my theory on my grand and was wondering if anybody else had tried it. I'm no metallurgist.
I'd try a few things out on some spare doors, or PM rob, maybe he send you a tumbled block of aluminum for testing that hasn't been milled into a Reo yet.
I used an engraving tip on a flexible shaft with my Dremel to put my phone # on the inside of my door. I have imagined adding some personal touch, but to be honest, it is difficult to engrave free-hand.
This was posted today on FB on the Reonauts group page... I don't think he is an ECF member though. He actually engraved all 4 sides of his LP grand. Looks pretty sweet.

The phone number is a good idea if you leave it sitting around.
The way I see it is when I am gone the REO can easily be taken from my hand. Until then it is protected by one of it's running buddies...Ruger, S&W, Springfield, Bond Arms, or Mr. Kimber......
