Yup, there have been a number of times I've thought, dang, open pack, flick lighter, POOF. However, I have been able to resist the temptation. I have plenty of gear, I'm capable of rebuilding coils and making my own juice. As mentioned above, (I think by roxy) I don't have to fiddle all the time. I usually have at least a couple of tanks at the ready and somewhere there's a mod with a good charge on it.

I lost my uncle to lung cancer about 15 months ago. For years before, I kept saying "I need to quit", but my head wasn't in it. It still took another six months after his passing for me to FINALLY put down the smokes.

Sending you and your friend many prayers....

Sorry to hear about your uncle. Glad you have hung in there, he's a great motivator.

Not at all, it's the opposite. I place an order for all of my supplies every 2 months or so, it gets delivered to my door, I save a ton of $, and I don't have to go out of my way to pick up anything, not even a pack of smokes. The Halo Tritons that I use operate exactly as I expect, they are very reliable and durable and hassle free, other than liquid refills and an occasional coil change. It's also easier to vape anywhere I go than it is to smoke, and I haven't burnt a hole in a shirt, emptied an ashtray, or had myself or my car smell like hell.

Cigarettes were the ball and chain most of us here dragged around for years, and we were hopelessly hooked even though it was surely killing us. Finally we found something that set us free, and I'm still amazed and grateful every day, because I thought I would be smoking until it killed me.
I smoked for 35 years. I started very young, just like your friend. I don't really know how much damage can be healed. I know I feel so much better now, no coughing, no wheezing at night, and so many other things have improved! But I think your friend's diagnosis could happen to any one of us, anytime. Maybe vaping can make the difference between life and death. I know without a doubt it's worth any bit of trouble or hassle, if it saves just one ex-smoker from that fate.
I love every aspect of vaping, personally. It's become a great hobby as well as a life saver.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your dear friend, and I'm so glad she has someone like you to lean on.
