I do not think I will do the MOSFET yet. I have a supply of some really good N/C, N/O single package switches that I have been using. I will use one of those in my second one............ My lovely wife ordered me a digital Weller soldering station ( without me asking) and it should be here tomorrow.... I want to wait to use the new toy for my second one.

I do love that lady....

And we all love her for allowing you to take the time to work with all of us like you do.

Thank you both!!!

And now, since I can't find it myself.

Anyone know where I can find a NC tactile switch or pushbutton of similar size to use for the inhibit ckt?
Well using the inhibit pin or a mosfet is still no excuse to use a crappy 50¢ tact switch. Limiting current does not compensate for poor switch construction and flimsy who knows what contact material. Many folks will be pressing their fire switches 900+ times a day.

Another thing to note is that using a fire switch on Vin means the only time the reg is powered is when you vape. With the inhibit pin approach the reg is always on, just disabled.

Either way high quality switches are not expensive. The body will be a little bigger due to the components that go into a good switch.

here's one from C&K.

I realize that, however, the tactile switch is rated at 1,000,000 cycles. I am making allowances with the design to allow me to switch out easily, I would just like to try the tactile option. Means I can go smaller. LOL. Hopefully it will work, if not, I also have probably 3 or 4 hundred no and nc normal pb switches laying around somewhere. (Garage, workshed, truck, toolbox, computer desk, etc....) LOL I just normally don't use tactile switches for my work.

I am also not using the TI regulator, I am trying out some OKR-T/10-W12-C that I have from digi-key to see how they do. They are basically the same device as the ti but about 2/3 the price.

My plan is to build one monster device out of this and then see how I like it.

Thank you all for your input, even if we disagree, it is great to be able to discuss it and have someone give feedback.

I looked at that one but this turned me off.
Vin must be 2V or higher than Vout for 3.3 to 6V outputs: Vin >= (2V + Vout)
Not much room there for 5V vaping.

Would like to see a link for that 'tactile switch rated at 1,000,000 cycles'.

SERIOUSLY!?!.. HOW about 5 million?
Long Life Switch | LL1105 long life tactile switch with right angle options | www.e-switch.com

I'll take that with a TI mosfet against your HUGE switches any day... WAYYYY easier to get in a box (at least for me) and LOOKS WAYYYY COOLER too... it's what I put in mine... next one is going to be an illuminated tactile... cool factor x10. IMNSHO there's like <50% of vapors that hit a switch 900+ times a day... so a cool lookin small switch will do for the majority of us. (I have about as much factual data to back that up as you do). Flame away!

:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

Edit, 37.5 times an hour for 24 hrs if I don't sleep... ever. that's over one time a minute every minute... don't have time to drink my coffee, die of dehydration before the switch dies... yeah... right

Me too Willy -- but there are uses for it :)

Here it is Willy -- Read em and weep.. (click the link to your left) - 100,000 - and 200,000.......... right there in the specs (only 1 decimal off tho {chuckle}). I've use this switch for many months and no problems whatsoever.

Examples:

I have another solution for the the "N/C" switch that works fantastically with open drain inhibit pins (such as the OKR with Max inhibit volatage of "Vin Max" -- the 6V for the PTR is a bit more of a challenge with the low current draw of the pin (125 μA - eeeks) better calculate this for the the PTR or ur in trouble) For the OKR , however, -- simply soak the pin with a resistor to ground (say 39K-118K) and use a Regular N/O tact switch for your inhitbit power from + of the battery -- no brainer there.

I do have to say one MUST watch the quienscent drain of the the chip (when the inhibit pin is used for switching) as Willy Noted. Best have a master switch that is used otherwise battery drain WILL occur -- How much? Depends on the draw..... My units last all day regardless -- best be sure with yours

Happy Modding

Nice find there -- E-Switch is a for-certain-go-to in my book. And I have to agree on the esse and the "look" -- there are so pretty awesome "cheap" switches out there...........

Just finish reading the hole thread.. pwwee it toke some time :)
has any one made there MOD with a mini usb female, for charging the 2 18650 batteries, so you don`t have to take them out ??? just a thought.

Yes... here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/146377-evercool-v-v-tekk-mod.html#post2348324

I have been using them fore a while now, but after 2-3 month they begin to miss fire. I`m just using 4AA rechargeable batteries = 4,8 V.

Maybe it`s be curse all the current is running through the switch.

It's misfiring with a Mosfet on it?... Ohhhh you didn't USE A MOSFET and THAT'S why it might be misfiring....... ;)

The Tekkeon is something you buy adding a connection and a switch, the problem for me is that, I can`t find any store in EU that ships to Denmark. And the only store in US that ships to Denmark charges 35-40$ + the Tekkeon + tax in Denmark + Tax Fee . I´m looking to spend over 140$ for parts. And that is a bit to much for me, just to make a MOD !! Therefore I want to make one :)

Sorry, I was just answering your explicit question of "has any one made there MOD with a mini usb female, for charging the 2 18650 batteries, so you don`t have to take them out"...
