As you all are probably figuring out by now I have been Mr. Research both for my own vaping use and especially before I started a petition in support of it. Constantly seeing people talking aboutvaping ingredients "specifically propylene glycol" and thought you would all like this link. While I have ready MANY MANY studies I'm hoping you will all find the source to be credible enough for you!:p

I especially like this line: Concentrations in foods range from <0.001% in eggs and soups to about 15% in some seasonings and flavorings. Propylene glycol is an FDA-approved additive for military dietary rations (Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry 1997).

Thats a pretty good link. Although a lot of us have already read similar articles, this information does need to be out there. The only thing is getting the press to pass on this information instead of the "you are smoking antifreeze" bull**** that we all hear.

I have already had a couple of people tell me that I am ingesting antifreeze. Gee, I wonder where they heard that from? The only problem is that they really belive it is bad for them because the press says pg is in antfreeze.

Oh, and the big bad chemical they quote as being present in trace amounts.....well according to their own tox reports:

"Ethylene glycol has been found to migrate into a number of foods from regenerated cellulose filmscontaining triethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol as softening agents. Ethylene glycol was detected

in fruit cakes at 27–34 mg/kg (ppm) after 84–336 days of storage, in meat pies at <10 mg/kg (ppm) after 3–7 days of storage, in toffee at <10–22 mg/kg (ppm) after 168–450 days of storage, in madeira cake at <10–22 mg/kg (ppm) after 21–28 days storage, and in boiled sweets at 14–34 mg/kg (ppm) after 168–450 days storage (Castle et al. 1988a). According to Kashtock and Breder (1980), ethylene glycol can
migrate into food simulants from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles used in the packaging of carbonated beverages."

It used to be that there were 2 types of antifreeze. With the original type you had to be careful of leaving any fluid around because cats were prone to drinking it, and it would make them very sick. With the 'new' type it wasn't such an issue. Not sure where PG fits into that story, but I think that it was ethylene glycol you had to keep away from your pets.

Picking out the 'conversion to lactic acid leading to acidosis' bit, I reckon vaping may not be entirely safe for renal failure patients. My missus lost her kidneys, had a transplant, lost that kidney too and is now on dialysis for life. For people without kidneys, acidosis is a serious problem which is why the main dialisate used in the dialysis machine is Bicarb.

Then again, renal patients should not be smoking either and so not need to convert to vaping.

soooo must of you use VG? i like my PG !!! specially everyonce in a while when i get a taste of it.... it reminds me of the good ol days in the clubs and wedding receptions = with the smoke machines lol.

i just might have to try this VG out.

on a side note.... although we ingest PG everyday through food products and ect... and it is totally safe, the big difference with us is we are not ingesting it, we are inhaling it (into our lungs) so i dunno if those aricles i read are totaly accurate, since some of them mostly deal with EATING PG not inhaling..... it all goes to the same place... in the blood stream, yes. but my concern is the lungs part, i really havent seen an article on what it could do to your lungs alone, this is a new (and great) expierence... vaping, so i dont think enough time or studies have shown yet. one lab result posted somewhere in these forums showed that pg was toxic in certain doses and could lead to some... desease (cant remember)

but screwwwwwwww it :) i luv pg and it luvs me in any case im minus 600+ chemicals in my system from analogs :)
