Ok so I stopped vaping my normal juice for 3 days now and have been switching around flavors. My husband started vaping my old stuff. Last night I took one vape of his and said it tasted sour. He said I'm crazy because it's very sweet. Now tonight I vaped it several times and it smells wonderful but tastes like red wine vinegar! What is going on?

Burnt wick can give a bad taste off, I let my boss try out my PV and accidently left a LR atty on...long story short he thought 2 drops of juice lasted alot longer than it really did, dried it out, and burnt up the wick. Nothing could get rid of that burnt taste.

Burnt tongue/mouth can also dramatically alter taste depending on where burnt. Im sure you know that taste buds sense different tastes (sweet/sour/salty etc) in different locations. I have burnt my mouth and only been able to taste rich tobacco flavors, and vice versa.

Burnt carto and stuff...like mentioned. I would give your equipment a decent cleaning unless it is happening on all your atomizers and stuff.

Other than that though I can't think of anything other than rancid juice.

Sometimes juices don't taste that well at all until the tastebuds grow back. I can see by your Join Date and you posting count that you have quite a bit of experience. The only think I can think of is that you burned or numbed them back out with vaping cinnamon. Are you by any chance vaping Atomic Fireball, Atomic Cinnacide or anything with heat?

When I was new to vaping, I don't think I could have continued vaping if I couldn't taste my juices - took a while for my taste buds to renew themselves - so my everyday vape was AC. I had to totally quit the AC and just struggle thru ea. day with lots of vapor and not much flavor until my tb grew back. If this is not the case for you, then I really don't know, I've never heard of juice being described as tasting of vinegar. I hope you find a solution soon, Starspecks.

could be a temporary taste bud/sinus issue...

I vaped maxboro which has cinnamon I believe. The only big difference I have made is vaping PG. again. I normally vape 100% VG. It's not an atty issue since my husband continued to vape it through the night. Something has to have destroyed my taste buds I agree with that. I went through several flavors and none of the juices tasted like they smelled, I remembered or my husbands description.

Weird and annoying since it's still happening....

It took me a few days before I could taste again...drinking lots of milk helped me...

+1 on taste buds malfunction.

It happens to me and I can't taste any juice other than that acidic stuff regardless of PG/VG, usually goes away within a day with me, not longer. Is that the anime I think? Great one, can't recall name, argh.

Edit: Claymore!

Now everything my husband vapes SMELLS like vinegar. I found one flavor that is muted but not sour so I atleast can get nicotine. This sucks :(

Side note: Claymore is soooooo good!

Yeah, it sucks. I'm in a spell right now. I vape tobacco flavors, essential to keep me off analogs, and when this hits, I can't taste or smell the aroma of tobacco. Sigh. Meanwhile, the garbage still smells. That's not fair.

Claymore is great, love the all female cast, some scary chicks though.

Sorry to hear that, Clare. My taste and smell have come back a little. I don't know if it's something I ate or the few flavors I've been vaping. Have you scraped your tongue and gargled the back of your throat with salt water or mouthwash? I wonder if drinking tea would cleanse the buds?

Edit: couple of my juices have that sour aftertaste and it's very hard to wash it out of my mouth. You could also have sensory overload by way of vaping. I've heard of women craving sour stuff when pregnant, but not tasting sour...kidding. :D

Edit2: Back with more. A little Wiki shows taste buds have an average lifespan of 10 days (hope you get new ones soon) and there are different taste buds for each taste, salty, sweet, etc. From Wiki reference #4 How Sour Taste Buds Grow science, engineering & technology news:

“There have been many claims for pH detectors that monitor the health of different body fluids, but the nature of the circuit and the receptors has been unknown,” said Zuker.

“Therefore it is significant to discover that the same protein that detects sour tastes also functions as a sentinel of pH in the central nervous system.”

Not to alarm you, but maybe too much info.
