Evic and a Cobra Genesis mini...

Got a Cobra Genesis min ifrom GotVapes. Hooked it up to my new Evic, and it worked pretty well. I really wanted to try and make my own coil..After reading numerous threads, and watching many you tube videos on the subject I was ready.. After about 20 attempts, I was still getting an atomizer short message. The evic was showing .5-.6 ohms.. I then cut along piece of .32MM Kanthal wire. It read about 2.8 ohms from end to end..I used the Peter K. method, only making about 12-13 coils, instead of 4-5.I screwed it onto the Evic,..It immediatley recognized it as a 1.6 ohm atomizer...It now works great,no hot spots.. do however have a slight metalic taste.I hope that will go away with use.. photo3.jpgphoto2.jpgphoto1.jpgSorry about the blurry Ipod pics.

evics are no fun for rbas.. but do work, just nothing under 1.5ohm in my experience.
But damn, that is the most amount of coil I have ever seen.. lol..
Try 3-4 wraps of 32 awg in properly oxidized ss mesh and it will be much easier to manage.
Start at low voltage, like 3v and slowly work your way up when your 1st firing on a fresh wrap.
Oh the metal taste will not go away, it is usually caused by a hot spot generally around the top coil to the postive post.
The cobra taste sooo good once dialed in. Love the draw on it, nice smooth concentrated vapor.
Good luck and be patient during the process. :2c:

watch the distance from the coil to the mesh and make sure nothing is to tight or lose. It is harder to detect hot spots on a wet wick so pay close attention to where the vapor and atomization is occurring by looking closely at the coils. You can see small tiny bubbles if everything is wicking.

By the way that is a cobra clone, no where near a real cobra. I have one but never tried the clone.

Ya that's a lot of wraps lol. .32mm wire is 28 gauge which is more geared towards 3/4 or 4/5 wrap on a mech mod for sub ohm builds. I have a 4/5 wrap at .9Ω on my mech and it is amazing. I used the same 28 gauge on my vamo with a 6/7 wrap and it came out to 1.5Ω but it takes a second or two to heat the wire at 4.5V. That's odd that 13 wraps only produced 1.6Ω did you check it on a multimeter as well?

Did OP say they owned a Mech mod? 2/3 wraps, and then what? sit and stare at it?

I do agree with Jonnyboy. I believe your shorting part way down the coil. 32ga. wire you should only need about 7 wraps.

Don't let the Originals owners discourage you. I have a few mini-DID clones and once set up properly the Slam. Done right, so can the mini chobra.

I have no idea about clone or not? I bought it from Gotvapes.com.and it's advertised as a Cobra Genesis Mini. I also got the Kanthal wire from them. It's marked D=0 .32mm 18ohm/meter. Is this not the right wire? Cause when I put 3-5 wraps,I get the atomizer short message form the evic..Also fried a Ego battery trying those .5ohm coils on it. So I guess I'm missing something? If I check a 5 coil piece of Kanthal with a Multimeter,It measures the same..The only way to get the resistance up is the way I did it..I do have alot to learn though! I'll keep working on the metalic taste, with your suggestions..Thanks
