Have you put a multimeter or some type of ohm meter to the rda. If the coil is attached properly and won't fire with the cap off and the things the others have replied with are all good, I bet the ohms are to low to fire on the Evic. Just sayin'

Will the evic not read ohms below 1.2? I know it won't fire, but the vamo will at least read down to .6 I think.

You know I had a eVic and built low and sub ohm coils to use on mechs. I think 1.2 is its lowest (can't remember) but i do recall the thing was fidgety, if it didn't like the coil it gave the error message. The fact that it fires on an ego says something to me (it's the eVic not the coil).

Just tried a micro coil, its 10 or 11 wraps of 30 gauge Kanthal, the evic is reading .2 ohms, ego fires it (just testing! :p)

The excess wire is gone, the coil its not touching anything but the hole in the post

Ok, maybe there is an issue with the connection between the RDA and the evic. Is the center pin really far out on the RDA, or pushed in some?

I would suggest that you take the RDA off and check it with a multimeter. If you don't have one you can purchase a digital one at Harbor Freight for $5.49 or an analog at Home Depot for $10. Walmart will have one also. I would buy a multimeter over the devices that are made to test coils because you can use it around the house or in the garage.
If you are not familiar with the symbol for ohms it looks like an upside down U with feet on it. In that setting if you touch the two leads together the meter will read 0. When the leads are not touching each other it will read OL (open line).
To check the coil touch one lead to the center pin of the RDA and one to the threads. If you get a good reading of say 2.3 ohm's then it's not a problem with the RDA. If you get a very low reading or a 0 then you do have a problem with the RDA.
I know you don't want to hear this but I have read that the Evic has had some problems with giving erroneous readings.

I don't have a multimeter :( might look into getting one tho.
The evic hasnt given me any problems yet, it reads .2 ohms and when i try to fire it, it says atomizer short.
I know its not a problem with the RDA because i used the same Kanthal that it came with, unwrapped it and put it on some ekowool and its giving my a reading of 2.1 ohms now and working like a champ. And from what i can see (dont trust me on this one) the kanthal appears to be the same gauge (30) as the one i bought.

I am guessing it worked ok when you first got it?
Not being there in person I am at a loss.
I have found some good information on Youtube. These are my two favorite vapers that might help shed some light. RiP Trippers and PBusardo's Vaping Reviews. They both do reviews of equipment with high quality cameras.

i use the same RDA i use a pair of needle nose pliers to tighten the posts down if i don't do that when it heats up the treads expand and the coil leads become loose and causes a short.

You could trap some of the excess coil under the screw heads before cutting them short. They become way less fidgety :)

Through the post hole, then up and around the screw under the head (neck?), then tighten and cut excess.
