I think mine did the same with a dcc, but after turning it back on I was able to keep vaping ok. I do think I turned down the power too.

You able to turn it back on and continue to vape?

This a stock battery? Pink Samsung ? Possibly your battery can't keep up with 7 watts on low power.

Most likely the 18350 can't maintain the voltage at a certain current out when near 50% capacity.

The volts out on a battery goes down as it discharges, in order to maintain the same output wattage delivered to the load, the internal switching power supply will pull more and more current in order to satisfy the requirement from the load (atomizer) based on the user setting (7W)

You're probably experiencing a brown-out from a weak battery. What type of 18350 is it? I use the AW 700mAH 18350 in my mini mode, and it can deliver the required current down to about 10-20% of battery life...

Don't be fooled by mAH ratings of other "-fire" brands, it all comes down to the internal resistance inside the battery. If the internal resistance is high, the output voltage from the batter will drop, as well as heat up...

AW IMR18350 700mAh LiMN Rechargeable Lithium Battery

Also got a shorty 18350 tube, but the spring was broken inside (Grrrr) and I had to get another.

Interesting.

I look at the picture on the site next to my AW IMR 18490, and the lettering is definitely smaller. I pulled two others that I have and they have the same letter size. I got mine from RTD, and they have worked great. Maybe (just maybe) the ones you got there are knock-offs.... It could be absolutely nothing, though. Here is the pic of mine.

Also, does your battery have one or two vent holes at the positive terminal. All of mine AWs have two, the ones in the picture from the site you linked appear to have only one.

In any case, I would always get my batteries from RTD.
Genuine AW Batteries at RTD Vapor

Great vendor and I always have had a positive experience with them. Their prices are better than the site you linked, as well.

Hey Jack, do you have a spare 18350 you can try? Also, how does your end cap on your 18350 tube look? Mine, the threading is sloppy, I think the first two to three rows are stripped, so it's using the last two rows to screw in...

Also, the end cap's threading and also the head threading serves as the DC return path. Mine worked out of the box, but I noticed paint, probably due to poor masking during painting, on the threads... I tried to rid as much as I can with an X-Acto blade and q-tip+isoprop alcohol...
