eVic FROZE!!

Hello ECF,

I'm experiencing a very annoying issue right now. Today, when I tried changing the time on my eVic, it just froze. I've tried everything to try and turn it off. When I turn the up and down scroller, nothing happens. When I hold the "fire" button for a long time, nothing happens. I tried pressing the "fire" button 5 times, still... nothing. I've even also tried to connect the eVic to my computer, and it doesn't do anything. I don't think it's even charging when I connect it to my MAC, it's just stuck on the "Set Time" option. Any ideas of how to turn this damn thing off and reset it?

Welcome , but did you try just taking out the battery ???? Mine , kind of weirded out awhile back , but returned to normal , after removing the battery . Good luck . Maybe contact the vendor , you bought it from .

Haven't tried that, will do when I have a chance. Thought it might have ruined the device or battery if I did that.

That's a way to reload the firmware..maybe u should try that.

PBusardo reported his Evic would freeze- his solution was to remove the batt.

For what it's worth, mine freezes if I try to adjust time from the power on menu.
I can adjust it fine once it's turned on.
When I experienced the freeze, it was easily solved by removing the battery for a second and then fitting it again

As stated, reset with battery removal.
Make sure the eVic is fully powered up before attempting any changes.

If things keep going wonky - joyetech - Default settings
You will need the old MVR and reset firmware. then you can reinstall MVR1.2 and update.

Thanks for all the info guys. Took out the battery cap and everything seems to be working fine again. Does this freeze occur often with the eVic? I really hope not..

I've been using an eVic for about a month and haven't had that issue. My problem is that apparently some juice got into the display window so now I have this annoyingly foggy display. It still works and everything, and there doesn't appear to be any condensation collecting on the electronics, but still irritating.

Not really. You possibly entered the menu while the vic was processing or tried to exit to quickly before eVic had finished operation and it just got stuck. Remember this is a small hex coded program, not a windows/mac based operating system. Also still in Baby stages as software(firmware) goes.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll try and slow down the speed of changing menus and/or exiting out of the device so fast.

If you haven't already, you should upgrade to the 1.2 firmware (link). It makes everything a lot smoother and does away with some pretty dumb interface decisions in 1.0/1.1.

When the freeze occurred, I already had the 1.2 firmware installed. I turned it on and noticed what pBusardo had noticed, the "00:00" as the time. I then went into the Menu>Configure>Calendar>12 Hour>Set Time and tried to change the time - it froze up the eVic. Just now, I pressed my eVic "fire" button 5 times, again... it showed the time as "00:00," I tried doing the above steps, and it froze ONCE again. I wonder what's going on.

It has happened twice to me...
over a four month period..
I just unscrew the battery for a minute...it resets
and everything is groovy again.

Bug in the hex code for time setting from the eVic it'self.
reset the time through MVP software program.

Easy fix - reset eVic
plug into computer - make setting through MVR
Forgot I had to do that on one of mine.

@DJ RyckRak & @crxess, Will try that now and let you know how it works. If you update the time through the MVR software then it won't freeze up anymore? Is that what you're saying?

EDIT: So far so good, haven't had any problems with my eVic going to sleep and then turning it on again with the time being "00:00." We'll see how it plays out a week from now. Thanks @crxess for the advise again.
