Ok so I've had my EVIC 3 months now. I refused to up date it or anything because, well it worked. So along comes a new update. 1.4. Thought well I might as well. Grrrr. Ok so I installed MVR.. Plug evic in and it begins by telling me its updating drivers. OK.. so far right?.. well Its all good then I go through MVR and try to get data from the eic.. herein lies the problem. It locked up. Now I cant do anything. So I manage to get software to shut off. Unplug evic.. which had been saying uploading and charging. Now it wont turn on. Period. Nothing I try will revive it. I've uninstalled and re installed MVR several times. Cant Find Hardware it says.. I plug evic in to wall plug to charge.. nothing.. Swapped batteries.. nothing.. I now have a paper weight. I've searched forums... scoured joy-tech... I cant do anything.. Anyone with this issue? The EVIC is dead.. fresh batteries...DEAD... Should have never tried to update it.. Any suggestions?

1. Remove your eVic Head from the battery
2. Press and hold the button for 15 to 30 seconds to totally kill all the session
3. Replace back the eVic Head to the battery
4. Press and hold the button while plugging in the USB(this will put your eVic into download mode)
5. When the MVR recognises your eVic, Reflash the firmware.

Hope these few step help's...... :)

Also still no life in the evic itself..
You might have a bad micro USB cable, try another micro USB cable(preferable new cable), my eVic comes with a faulty cable it can only charge the evic but can't read my evic head on a PC. So I tried it with my smartphone data(micro USB) cable with my evic it works flawless. So try it 1st and let us know how's the outcome.

OK First.. Thank you all for the reply's. I have managed to "unbrick" it. It appears I have a bad usb plug in the evic itself. I always charge the battery in a charger and as I said from the beginning I've never updated it. So it took holding the evic power button in with no battery in it and plugging the cord into the evic and clicking upgrade in MVR and it worked with the new version 1.4.. Once it upgraded I was then able to insert a battery and it opened right up and turned right on. So imagine holding power button on while plugging in the cord and making sure it is just so and then clicking upgrade. Well I almost needed another set of hands. So with it now updated and on I plugged in the cord again holding it just so and was able to add my personal info as well as tweak a few settings. What a nightmare. If anyone else has such an issue grab a friend and be prepared to wiggle the cord. From the start page on MVR if you have a bad connection you will notice the screen change. That's how I knew I finally had a connection. Again Thanks guys...

Congratulations on unbricking it, so now I understand why you don't wanna give it up, it's a beauty.......
