My evic started saying atomizer short on any device I attach. It knows when nothing is connected, will say no atomizer found if nothing is attached...but no matter what I attach, it reads sub ohm (even if obviously the device connected is NOT sub ohm) and when I try to fire it says atomizer short. I've tried many different tanks, that are KNOWN working... anywhere from 1.3 ohm to 3.7 ohm....same end result - Atomizer Short :(

I've tried upgrading the firmware to the latest V1.4 via MVR, tried resetting back to factory defaults... anyone else ever seen this behavior?

I'm kind of lost at this point....?

I had this problem when my wires started to come off of the head. One of them was making direct contact with the atty port in a way that shorted the read, so of course it would not fire. I had to remove the head, and re-solder the wires. It only bought me a couple more months of life with that head.

If you have the new version, you have to remove the screws to lift the head out. There could be glue holding it together as well. Try drying a bit more first. If that fails, maybe pull it apart and see...

I guest the 'O' ring for the center post has been torn and the center post is touching the body, try not to screw in your atomizer too tight, best is just screw in till the atomizer just touches the center post a bit and try fire it, if it fires and that confirm that your 'O' ring to the center post has been torn, try replacing the center post 'O' ring and it will good to go.

Replaced the center pin o ring with a grommet from a kanger coil. Not exactly the same, but plenty close enough to work.

It's been upside down, without power, I tried it the other day...still showing .4 ohms on every atomizer and atomizer short.

I'm so sure it's a minor fix somewhere. Something grounded out, loosened, something......? I just don't have the skill set to disassemble it without cosmetic damage.

I should let my evic dry out a little bit, the center pin isn't as firm as it used to be so I should probably leave it upside down for a couple of days (off to a few days straight of mechanical land, whoooooooooooooo!). Tangent, right.

Only thing I can really suggest is order an evic easy head, finagle with the busted control head, being careful as to not damage it (and even if you do, you still have an easy head). If it works, put it back together and use it despite any cosmetic damage you MAY or MAY NOT have incurred. And if it turns out that your control head is FUBAR, the only thing you really can do is buy another one. Let us know how it goes should you choose to disassemble and surgerize (yes, surgerize XD) it. Best of luck!

Sounds like a loose wire in the control head. If it was the battery post itself, you'd either get a constant no device, or a constant short reading. The newer control heads with the screws are easier to re-assemble after taking apart, but with judicious care you can sometimes do this with the older press fit head as well.

I've had the top off...but that was as far as I could go.

I wonder if joyetec would repair it?

I showed the b&m store I bought it from, they couldn't have cared less. Offered to sell me another one...no warranty, no replacement, offered me a $10 discount on the purchase of a new evic...the whole kit again.
