Are the current readings accurate? I thought resistance wasn't a factor in calculating draw on regulated devices? A 0.2 has a different reading then a 0.6 in power mode?

The VTC shows the amps that the atty sees. That's in line with ohm's law. It's really not useful at all. It should show the amps on the battery side of things, where resistance doesn't matter. The latter would be actual useful information. Hooefully it'll be addressed in a future firmware update.

Nice. I'll look into adding that to the list. Thanks for that.

Is there a source or further discussion on this? Or would you like me to credit you as its originator?

This technique was originally Posted by ECF member "Balazsk" in one of the long titanium threads. I just tested the "0700" setting on the VT MINI, works the same as on my VAPORSHARK DNA200, set temp to 570 degrees at 10 watts for a pulsing DRYBURN on a de-wicked titanium coil.

I just setup the included TRON tank, I mostly run Subtank Mini's with both RBA's (24 gauge titanium wire) and Prebuilt Kanger Nickle coils (as they don't make titanium coils), as well as a Morph tank with Delta 2 titanium prebuilt coils. I can say I'm impressed so far with the TRON tank with the prebuilt Titanium .4 ohm coils at 480F, 30 watts. I even like the airflow control, easy to spin and find an ideal airflow from tiny to quite large good for my style of vaping. As far as a DNA200 killer, I think the 200 board is more accurate, but something many may not notice, and the Escribe software allows for far greater customization. But at 25% the cost of a $200 Vaporshark, this makes a perfect backup or sister mod! Not sure at this point in time you will find any mods at this price point that allows custom TCR input.

So basically ignore it? I'm safe? Hahaha

Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

Yes ignore it. The amperage at the coil means absolutely nothing and I wish Joytech would not have included it since all it does is confuse people.

Most of us prefer to adjust our vape by wattage (power). In the old days we used voltage, but wattage is much better for a number of reasons (mainly because it doesn't care about the coil resistance).

As KenD said, the only place where amperage (current) matters is at the battery. If you want to know that, you need to know what voltage your battery is firing at under load. Then take your power level and divide it by the voltage. Example:

50W/3.7v = 13.5A

That's the amperage being drawn from your battery (assuming a single 18650).

I am not sure why more manufacturers don't make this standard. Give us the amps being drawn from the battery. Yes, it's probably not going to matter much (since our mods are regulated) but it's nice info to have for safety conscious people.

So has anyone found the Sweet Spot Vapors Ti 0.5 tcr# ??

I emailed SSV and they sent me the .csv file which works fine for my DNA200 devices but I don't know how to get a tcr# out of that.
Between 0350 and 0366. I'm using 0366 on a .94 ohm .3 wire. Working very well. Works on a .52 ohm .4 wire as well.

Confused...you lost me at "Hello"...
On that note, I shall continue vaping my kanthals...

Yes, AHERM, AHEM... Meanwhile, in power-vaping land...
12mg Caramel-Tobacco in a Smok Octo-Dripper, 12.5 watts, and NO advanced calculus formulas in my head. ;)

I just upgraded my VTC Mini to firmware version 3.0 it changes the display format again to only power, volt, ohms, amps and battery life icon. I use it with the RBA coil for the Kanger Subtank Plus Black at 30watts running a .6ohm coil with the RBA deck. Wide open airflow on the subtank with many different juice ratios and I must say that It is one of the best Tanks I have used. The VTC Mini is a great TC Box mod whether you operate it in wattage mode or Temp control although I have yet to use the TC functionality I am very happy with the VW mode whether im using a tank or RDA. Here is a picture of the new display output for the firmware V3.0View attachment 516624

Yes, that is the screen configuration that came pre-loaded w/ mine, and mine is of the "TRON" variety (it came w/the 'Tron' tank) and I'm pretty-sure that it came pre-loaded with the V.3 software, altho i could be completely wrong, as some1 has told me that no Evic Mini unit is currently shipping w/ the V.3 software update pre-installed as of yet... Maybe I have the 2.5? Who knows... I'll check, eventually... It's just so hard to WANT to fiddle with the update software when i'm getting such an A+ vape in wattage mode, W/O needing the upgrade! Maybe if I TC vaped, I would want to see if the update helped with anything, but in W/Power-Mode, my Mini is the favorite, and of the BEST mods I've ever had the opportunity to vape with. Love it.

Also wanted to pop back in here to let everyone know that I've experienced my 1st DROP with the Evic VTC Mini Mod... Ahh-yes, the 1st drop of ownership of any mod is usually quite the momentous occasion. Why, I remember 1st dropping my Provari off of my bed, only to find-out that the Satin-Silver finish hides ALL scratches so well, that I never had 2 worry again.. Ahhh, and the 1st dropping of the Green Silver Bullet... While it was an ON-PURPOSE drop, (I was experimenting with whether or not the Silver Bullet would land in a flat palm, after having-been thrown from my left hand, to my right PALM.. (it didn't- rather, it fell from my open right palm, to the ground below, and received quite the battle-scar in the process... a battle scar that, honestly, ...... me off from the 1st day of ownership, onward... lol) SO, i am very PLEASED to announce, that my BLACK Evic VTC Mini, dropped from a 4FT height, to the ground below, bouncing off of plastic containers, containing empty e-liquid... bottles. lol) Yes, to my surprise, the Evic Mini suffered NO scratching, no battle-scarring, no damage.

ALL-IN-ALL, how could I complain, right? It's a damn good mod for the money, and I promise you all, i've now personally tested the paint-job with an accidental "drop-test" and the Joyetech Evic Mini, VTC Tron Edition, has PASSED- With FLyING Colors. ;) Good stuff! & i'd probably still be using it even if it HAD gotten a large scratch. In black, it almost has a utilitarian look to it, as it is. (boxy, in style) however, it is eloquent and well designed. I like the aesthetics quite a fair bit... Same reason I love the TeslaTwo unregulated 100w mod.

I believe that if you turn it off and then click the fire button 20 times fast, it's suppose to show the current firmware.

I'm new with this mod. Can anyone tell me the different things I can do on the device and how to do them

Well that's quite a question as this mod is so versatile. What mods and atomizer a have you used before, and what atomizer are you planning to use with this mod?

I have not dabbled with TC yet, but keeping notes. I LOVE it for power mode, kanthal, and have a 2nd on the way to me. I have some Ti wire, SS on the way, so when I have time (this is a busy time for a self employed leather worker who used to be a computer tech) I will consult my notes and play!

You will want to refer to your USER MANUAL, which can be found UNDERNEATH the mod's cardboard 'holster' within the original box. Also don't forget to REGISTER your mod, with joyetech, so that if something should break, internally, beyond your control, you may have a chance of returning it and receiving a NEW model, free of charge. (manufacturer's warranty) So get that box back out! :) The Evic VTC Mini has both WATTATE (AKA POWER) MODE, and it also has TEMPERATURE CONTROL MODE. Each mode is different in the way that it controls how you heat the coil(s). With Wattage/Power mode, you simply set your favorite/preferred wattage, and VAPE! Your preferred wattage will probably be different for the type of atomizer/tank/head you are currently utilizing. IF you are using an OLD style rebuildable atomizer, with a SMALL air-hole, you may want to use a higher MG Nicotine juice, at a LOWER wattage setting. I use 12mg w/my older, small airhole atomizer-heads. ;) IF you happen to be utilizing the TANK that CAME with the Evic VTC Mini, well then, you have the option of using it with HIGHER wattage settings. I recommend using a lower MG nicotine (around 6-9mg) and the airflow hole size will be dependent of your inhalation-style. IF you inhale straight into your lungz, you may like the middle or highest airflow setting. IF u are like ME, and u enjoy taking vapor into your mouth in a long, drawn-out drag, and then inhaling that vapor all at once, then you may like the tightest airflow setting, paired with a very SOFT drag, almost like a kiss... :p WHETHER OR NOT you enjoy direct-to-lung or mouth-to-lung hits, if you want to use a higher wattage, u will need to experiment-with, and use, a lower MG nicotine juice, than u would use with an older stylized atomizer unit... It is worth it, because the vape is MUCH warmer, and the amount of nicotine vaporized per hit, increases substantially. Me, myself? I am still using 12mg juice, at 12.5W, w/the tightest airflow possible on my new Ego-ONE tank. u certainly have a TON of options to enjoy m'boy... NEXT, would be temperature control mode, which, I am not very familiar with. TC mode, (for short) allows u to vape like u would in POWER/WATTS mode, but it LIMITS the "temperature" so-as to deny the coil from burning your wicking material. It actually monitors the resistance of your coil, so-as to NOT allow the coil to reach a low-enough resistance to BURN your cotton. (dependent on your TC setting, of-course!) I am unfamiliar with how to set TC mode, so, I cannot give you a recommendation of what "temp" to set the device, or how to use TC mode, period! :( You will have to experiment with TC MODE alll on your own. Hell, I shouldn't of said what I've said, this is YOUR journey to embark on! The Evic Mini is a fantastic device to begin vaping with. Enjoy your vaping journey, young man.

Does anyone know what the alloy is underneath? 6061-t6? Mystery metal?

I really want to acid bath one and find out. Give it a brushed finish. And then replace the buttons with CNCd SS.

I love the form factor, simplicity, layout and chip. I just want a more HEMO looking version of it to match my nicer genesis SS atomizers.

Update: I found at least one source claiming the chassis to be made of 304 stainless steel.

If true, ლ(ಠ_ಠლ) Y U No make brushed version, Joyetech!

peeps,
i mustve been super lazy since new fw out. i have never been able to reset the time counter (and puff counter) in my vtc mini running ver 3.0

tried google, but the only discussion found is in reddit and it is unaccessible from my pc and cell.

selecting the amp/puff/time then select-hold the up (right) button worked on ver 1.3 & 2.0, no joy in ver 3.0

some lights here please [emoji4]

- yes i have never need to check my puff count, but i want to compare my batteries performance, thats why i need to reset the time counter [emoji39]

Thanks, Rekon. Yeah, I've notice the SS316 built into the VTC Mini is way different (hits harder). I seem to like it best, right now.

I had the same question about the BF coil, but they don't show the inside. Not sure if it's single or dual. I'm sure that info will get revealed soon as reviewers break them apart to see what's inside.

As for the dual coil topic, I've started a new thread in an attempt to get this answered definitively, and so as not to derail this good thread.

Do Dual Coils Affect TC Accuracy?

I'm going to test the VTC's built-in SS316 setting to see if I can determine what its equivalent custom TCR value would be. I'll add that to the TCR list once I have it. Knowing that number would help to visualize where it sits in the lineup of other SS316 TCR values.

I don't think there is any "right" value, because there are so many variables in the thermodynamics of these atomizers. I think it will be up to each of us to experiment to find what works best for a given build. Within reason, of course. I think if the values that work are too far off from the reference TCR values it may be an indication something is wonky with the build.

For me
TC SS316L turned down to 180 Degrees Celsius vapes close to 205 Degrees Celsius
- off by about +10%

Custom TC M1 set to 0088 turned up to 220 Degrees Celsius vapes close to 205 Degrees Celsius
- off by about -10%
