Just received mine and I'm shocked by the size of this thing, it's absolutely tiny and the finish is very nice indeed.
The buttons are a massive improvement over the VT plus you can go down to as low as 1 watt in temp control - no more of the 30 watts minimum business.

I'm really very happy with the temp control (improved over the VT) and the overall usability.
looks great! How is the Ti calibration??

The German Phil Busardo (Dirk Oberhaus) has already ran the scope tests on the Evic VT Mini. From the little I can gather from his video, it appears it is more accurate than the original. Anyone care to translate his findings in regard to the accuracy of the TC?

From what I can tell he seemed to be happy with the device, if there is a problem with temp control it can be addressed with firmware updates.
I can see joyetech adding steel temp control in to the device too, this version of the Evic has a lot of potential in my opinion.

I'd highly recommend it based on my few hours of usage.

Obi is super happy with the evic vtc. Rarely seen him so happy, he was not able to mention any cons. He says fantastic accuracy. Also the TC accuracy is close to perfect.

Normally I buy a mod and ten minutes after it arrives I find out that there's something terribly wrong with it or it's wildly inaccurate - this is good news for me!
As I said before, I'm surprised that people aren't making much of a fuss about this device.

It's a cool little mod that does everything you need it to do.

That's good news, the last on my check list was whether it fires at a set minimum in temp mode because everything else is right enough for a box mod. If the market wouldn't be so saturated with junk boxes, this would've been as big as a hit as Vamo was. Waiting for the single review worth watching too!

I almost wish this device was never created, because now I'm having a hell of a time trying to decide whether I want to go with the IPV D2 (original choice) or this eVic VTC-mini

anyone have both and prefer one over the other?
I think the D2 is slightly smaller, is this correct?
the D2 has yihi chip, what about the VTC-mini? does joyetech make their own chips?

I struggled with that same choice. In the end I ordered the VTC Mini. The D2 is a little smaller and puts out 15 extra watts, but it's also reported to be heavier. Also, the D2 isn't upgradeable, has a much lower quality battery door, & it doesn't use a standard USB charge cable. Honestly, the old school charge cable on the D2 might be a good thing. So many micro USB charge ports get loose, loose connection, or simply crap out. I never use on board charging anyway. I do like having USB ports for upgrades.

Some people are saying that the VTC Mini might be able to temperature control stainless steel coils with a firmware update at some point. I don't know if that will happen, but the lighter weight, firmware upgrade option, & better battery door convinced me to order the VTC. I don't have it yet. Hopefully I don't regret my choice. Time will tell. Honestly, either mod looks like it would be money well spent. There's no bad option between these two.

Shop around and can get both for a good price, that is what I have done, bought both

Not got either yet though, so can't say which one I like more.

If you wait a couple of days I'll be able to tell you as I've got a D2 on the way.
I can tell you that the IPV is shorter but fatter.

I'm sure a lot of you know how difficult it is to avoid the temptations of a new device that takes your fancy - even when you're quite broke because you've spent most of your money on mods you don't need.
According to DJLsb on Youtube the temp accuracy on the IPV D2 isn't as good as the VTC and the finish is easily damaged - it aint stopping me from getting one all the same.

Joyetech are responsible for their the manufacture of their own chips although I believe the temp control design is very similar to Evolvs tech for some strange reason;)

I watched his video and I don't think he performed the temperature test accurately. These boards have a feature where they wont fire a dry coil (or at least not reach full temp). For this board you would need to test with a wet wick.

I highly doubt that, how is it supposed to detect whether its wet or not? You would need some type of moisture sensor in there, which there is obviously not. Temperature can be detected via voltage drop, which is why it doesn't need an extra sensor.

thanks for the list. I saw many of those places as well via yahoo/google searches. I contacted ecig.com and they told me they should have more in stock soon, so I'm just going to wait it out. I highly doubt any place not named fasttech is going to beat $44 out the door for the whole kit, and for that matter probably not for just the mod alone.

Yep you're correct, it's never going to get up to temp with a dry coil unless it's not working properly.
