Yeah I'm pretty sure they will say there will be a firmware upgrade like "54" said. I'm interested to see if they answer me in general. As of now I'm just going to use the trick with titanium and SS and hope for something that fixes this device in the future.

It definitely sounds like a software issue, I hope it is so you can be made whole.

So, here is what I noticed today using stock Ni coils on a melo, kanger, evic and crown. Occasionally the Mini will read the starting room temp of the coil at 70 degrees and it vapes fine, but more often than not it reads the starting room temp of the coil at around 170 degrees and the vape sucks. Its just not reading/calculating the temp right. I couldn't get any tank/coil to consistently start at 70 degrees, or return to 70 degrees. You can crank it up to make something happen but that throws the flavor off.

Yeah that's exactly what happens. Can someone do me a favor or tell me if they tried this already. First of all you must be experiencing these problems and must have a crown ni200 coil in your crown tank. At first vape in normal power mode with whatever kanthal or SS build and do that for a half an hour to hour while letting it go to sleep several times. After that put on your crown with nickel coil and set up the evic in the correct way and lock the resistance. Vape on it and just see if it works. Why I ask is because my wife has been using her evic VTC mini with a stock kanthal coil for a day or two and ever since then I've had issues getting it not to work. I know that sounds dumb but it's not messing up as much. It did the other night but I had to keep trying over and over and that could have been the reason because I was warming the tank and mod with trying so many times. And when it finally messed up last night it only dropped.01 instead of .02 it still lead to less vape but not near as bad as dropping the .02 like it did before. I don't know if maybe using it with kanthal made the chip do something different I don't know I'm just trying to justify it magically doing a little better.

At the risk of insult, have you tried a dry cotton burn test? It sounds like the drop off could also be a wicking issue. What atomizers have you tried on the device? A lot of the sub-tanks are being reported as having issues with Ni200 or Ti coils on many mods, not just the VTC. The purity of the wire can also be an issue.

Some of my atomizers work better in TC mode on some mods than others. With the thousands of different subtanks on the market it's understandable that there will be compatibility issues.

I've used 4 subtank minis 1 crown 1 triton 2 atlantis's 1 Atlantis v2 about 5 clone rdas 2 authentic rdas and also a goblin mini. Every one of these that I tried worked perfectly fine on my other TC devices. And I don't need to do s cotton burn test since when it malfunctions it's at 4 watts. When it works it works great then the resistance drops a little. I'm 100% sure it's a qc issue with the board. But today for an odd reason today it hasn't messed up. That's why I posted that last message because that's what my wife did and who knows maybe doing what I said above conditions the board in some way. I know that sounds real dumb but who knows. It's only been working for two hours so who knows each drag I take I'm waiting for the drop. I'll be happy if it magically fixed itself.

Well it sounds like you've done everything to troubleshoot the issue. Unfortunately if the vendor doesn't want to RMA the device, then you're SOL. Personally I would hound the sh*t out of both the vendor and Evic till I got satisfaction. Depending on how you paid you may have some recourse with your credit card company or PayPal. The goods are obviously not fit for purpose.

Yeah when I was first looking to buy the VTC mini for my wife I wanted the VT200 and VapeNW had them both. When I looked up reviews for that site a saw real good reviews and real bad ones. But I figured what's the chance I will have to return something and I thought the people that gave bad reviews were disgruntled shoppers that were exaggerating or something. Well I was wrong when I look back at the bad reviews of VapeNW most are because they wouldn't take devices that were said to be failing. I'm just suprised a place that big wouldn't help me out especially with video evidence. But as they say that's how it's supposed to work.

It won't help now but Origin Vape is an awesome vendor to buy from for future reference, faulty device is an easy replacement. Hell one of my red orings was cut when I received my Zephyrus, they shipped out a new pair of red orings to me the next day.

Customer satisfaction should always be a vendors #1 priority.

Yeah I definitely agree with you there. Well I learnt not go through VapeNW ever again. I'll stick to the couple of places I always shop at. And just an update this VTC mini has been working better. I really can't explain why besides what I said earlier but who knows. I'm using the same exact tanks and rdas and the only difference was we used it in regular power mode for a day or 2. Really odd but as of now I'm expecting it to get crappy again but I hope for the best.

Perhaps it's a cold solder joint on the board and wattage mode heated it up and it made better contact.

Got to be some type of fluctuating resistance between board, 510 connection, and attys. It is working better due to stability of your current setup.

From my experience i don't think it is. I had the instant temp protection issue on my goblin mini, and as i put it on my full size evic, it was behaving the same way. This never happened to me on full size in 6 months, so i guess it must be a connection problem. Also, if it was software issue, it would probably behave like that all the time?

dont you know, according to joyetech its not a warranty issue if a lot of people are having the issue. its just a quirk on their new "cuter" device (i cant believe they put that in the manual). they are not responsible for that at all. and if only a few people are having an issue its obviously not their fault because more people arent having the issue. they make perfect products and how dare you say otherwise.

when i first got mine it was great for a couple weeks. my coils were reading the proper resistance with no wandering and didnt even need the lock. now sometimes it reads the coil anywhere between 0.15 and 0.11 ohm (Ni200) and i cant get a decent vape to save my life. i cant wait for my xcube 2 to get here. at least on that if needed i can tell the device what the resistance is if it isnt detecting correctly.

Think about it, it behaves that way after the screen timeout. How could it be hardware.

If you prevent it from going to sleep it will vape right along perfectly. I've done this with my CCI MIlitia (Patriot) while testing, tapping the fire button to keep it awake while I dripped, the screen timeout is 30s.
