I must have looked away for a minute and 25 seconds.
Haha, I'm not sure, but it was really super fast..connected the device on win 10 ,klicked update, device was on with atty on it, and it was done in few seconds. Everything seem ok, had it for 4 days now, only difference is that my resistance jumped from 0.06 to 0.07. Had to lower the temp a bit, but works fine

In your nightmares
I bought the black mini 2 weeks ago from gear best for $39, then I stumbled on this thread and thought I may have made a decision. I have not updated the firmware yet and it seems to be working, I have a new eleaf gs tank made for tc with a .15 ni coil so far it is a nice mod. Settings 30w at 450f getting a nice vape.

I give up on talking to joyetech support. It's like talking to a brick wall. I keep repeating myself with the problem and they won't give me an answer, obviously derailing from the problem.
"Do you use ti wire in ti mode"
"What country are you currently in"
"Have you used multiple wires or atomizers"
And finally
"Have you contacted your seller? If not we suggest you do that"

All i wanted to know is whether they will fix Ti mode with a firmware. CHRIST

I have had the same issues with mine, it is next to impossible to get correct resists, locked, unlocked, indoors, outdoors. My Vendor just replied back and i will be sending this back to them for credit toward a different mod. In case it helps, I had Hardware 1.03 and Frimware 1.02, 1.10, and 1.20. using the stock coils that came with it. (Ni mode only as I was sent 2 Ni coils in my kit) Lurked in this thread and one over at Joytech Forums and tried just about everything suggested. Good to know that I am not crazy or alone in this issue. Hope folks find some resolutions to this, I really wanted to love this mod but it seems like a lot of hassle involved with no real resolution in sight yet.

or kanthal

if you ahve ss wires.
might wnat to use t hat in TI mode,(start @200w)
use it a couple of weeks,1-2 then re upgrade.

i had the same issue with you guys
but after the update,it now working as it should

th ss wires thing was our workaround before.
and someone posted using reg kanthal on wattage mode for several ays/weeks then did the updtae and was also fixed.

I wonder what the ratio is, between good and bad units. Seems to be a love-hate thing with this mod. I'm reading either glowing reviews or problems.

well if you are reading here mostly people that are having issues with the device are posting since we are trying to look for either workaroudns or solution
but evic seems to be a hit and mostly sold pout,so i think we are a small percentaage of users out there,

and to be honest
if the device is working properly you will love it.

it it doesnt,...wish you grab a hammer and just smash the thing :)

So true, I decided to just return and get my original choice which I should have never swayed from. The D2 + a Herekles. Anyone I have talked to using either have had great experience. I am sure there are a ton of people using eVic VTC mini and loving them, when mine worked properly it was awesome, most of the time I was reaching for that hammer. It has left me a bit weary of JoyeTech personally.

Just a follow up on this, I wrote a big long email to Joyetech explaining the issue, what I thought might be causing the problems, work arounds I had discovered etc and I got a reply telling me to only use the ego one tank and only to use Ti in Ti mode (when I said Ti wire worked better in Ni mode) so I've not had a lot of luck really.

i love the build quality and look of the device. its the perfect size for my hand and it doesnt weigh a ton. the screen and interface are amazing. power mode works perfectly and is even better after the bump up to 75W (provided you have the proper battery). its just the temp control..... personally i have just switched to thinking about it as a power only mod. now that i have my xcube 2 im just using that for my TC stuff. it is working better on TC than my VTC mini had even when its reading the resistance properly.

i have not used SS wire, nor do i want to to be honest. I'm currently using Ti in Ni mode and it's working fine, but that's not the point. The point is we paid for (no matter how nice the price is for a mod) a mod that has power, bypass, Ni and Ti mode. And i expect those modes to work. I also expected joyetech to at least acknowledge that there are many people with the same issue, and that there IS an issue. This is just annoying. "Hello friend, here's a random question or suggestion that we know you tried or won't work, bye".
Don't get me wrong, i still love the mod and it does work nicely on Ni mode. But it's not completely functional and they won't even admit it after heaps of evidence and reports.

just dont buy anything from them again. let your wallet do the talking. i have said this before in other threads, the current short lifecycle of vaping products is the single largest problem with the industry right now. what incentive do companies have to ensure their products work properly? they release something to a bunch of hype, sell a bunch of units before problems can be fully reported on, and then start working on the next product to be released in 4-6 months. the B&M absolve themselves of any responsibility in their sales (something i do not agree with). online retailers are even worse than B&M. and your only recourse if to complain to a company overseas which only communicate in engrish and hardly read your concerns at all let alone comprehend what you are actually saying. there are some NA companies which do provide better service but this is a small minority. we need to market to settle down and product lifecycles to be at least twice as long. when that is the case producers of vaping products will have much more incentive to release a fully working and tested product as well as keep it up to date with new firmware and a proper RMA procedure. in the meantime, just do what you can. dont buy their stuff anymore.

You both made good points (I edited your posts to save page height ;) )

The life cycle of these products is short, a few weeks warranty as best that isn't really a warranty because lets face it these companies don't really care and there is the english barrier. I felt like my email wasn't understood and I too got the 'Dear Friend, random words unrelated to your problem' email.
That's why I liked my SVD 2.0 is was literally bullet-proof, huge but bullet-proof.

JT have a very aesthetically pleasing product that is well made and a unique screen layout which is the way forward IMHO but it's not there for me on a technical level. It's a shame they're not looking after the people with issues because it means when Innokin (or whoever) copies their vertical layout in their next mod with TC, that's the one I'll be getting.

The tech is developing quickly and kudos to evolv for pushing things forward. I think this tech could be a middle ground until we get actual temp sensors in the atomisers by which time studies will have been done into how the coil metal 'off gases' and it turns out we really shouldn't have been using (*insert metal here) at all as it's actually quite toxic! ;)

There's a lot of work to be done and we're all guinea pigs at this point. It's just a shame that when you hit a speed bump like this (a faulty unit) that our little eco system falls apart.

I could have paid double and bought locally, so even if I do decide to buy another when the dust settles I'm still not out of pocket really. The unit, if made properly is worth $100 'in the real world' all day long so the fact you can pick one up for $40 is crazy. It kinda shows you how much we're ripped off with everything else we buy!

JT have got their money out of me and that's it I guess. I'll continue to use it in power mode and catch the TC wave next time round.
