The device isn't super complicated, surprised there's not a coder out there that hasn't done custom firmware yet.

I don't think a firmware update will fix some of the issues people are having. I'm sure that some of the devices may simply have board problems that a firmware update simply won't fix.

Not all the VTC's are broken. Mine works fantastic. I bought it off a recommendation from my local vape shop. The store owner was using one as well and he loved it.

You are probably correct, but being able to manually set resistance might help a little (unless the board issues make it hit protect and kill the vape still)

I've just learned that my Evic VT Mini from Fasttech has been delivered today (Squeee!), so I'll be popping in here from time to time (and also subscribing). It's my first temperature control and I've got a lot to learn, so be gentle with me. ;)

Nice! Hope it works well for you!

Welcome to the world of temperature control...I think you'll enjoy the journey.

On that note, more vape porn...Cthulhu v2 on my white VTC Mini.

I'm not so sure about that...the bug seems to be in keeping the resistance TRULY locked, or really mis-calculating the temperature based on ohms...of course I don't know for sure, but if they can do stuff like add the "dynamic resistance" or 75W max, they should be able to do the above. Whether they will or not is another matter.

Good luck. Mine worked for a few days. These things are junk
I wouldn't jump the gun and say it's junk. Lots of people having no issues with it. At the beginning I had issues with Ti mode as well, but here is how it works now:

Been like this for roughly a week.

Just got a new replacement. Hardware version 1.03, software 1.20. TC resistance lock still doesn't work. Left it at room temp, put it on the atty, selected new coil and it reads 0.12, just like it is on my ohm reader. Locked it in. Vapes fantastic. Less than an hour in, it jumps down to 0.10. Anemic vape.

Sigh. TL;DR resistance lock is still not working.

It's more complicated than the lock not locking. That function is to keep the mod from reading the res after firing, when the res has risen slightly, and throwing off the set max temp.

Instead... the VTC inexplicably assigns a slightly lower res to an in-use coil. A physical impossibility.
A coil res cannot drop when heated. Absent a minute short, that is.

I know you know the result. Just keeping the explanations straight.

When it goes to sleep and power is no longer applied to the processor tracking resistance changes in relation to room temperature in relation to internal temperature of board. When it awakens it remembers its last known computed resistance differential rather than clearing that temperature differential prior to taking a fresh initial internal temperature of board and read of the actual atty resistance.

It therefore thinks its initial room temp is significantly higher than it actually is and adjusts atty resistance lower to compensate.

Thank you, and to jim too for highlighting the reason behind the deficiency with the temp control. Given this information, does evic know how to fix this? Also, would this be fixed via a future software upgrade or is it a hardware fault?

My three Evic VTCs have never demonstrated this behavior, possibly because they were only used primarily with the color matched stock tanks (I did run a crown in kanthal mode @ 50w for a while but that was it). I have DNA200s so my use of these mods is primarily to enjoy flavors that are different than my EDVs.

I do not know that what I put forth is accurate as to if it is indeed what is causing the problem but that is my personal theory. I have heard that the 1.20v update solved the issue for most and some that still had problem were successful when they re-flashed to an earlier version, did a hard boot, then re-flashed to the latest version.

My black one will not properly take a FW update unless it is hard booted before & after the update.

I have not requested service with Joyetech because I was not affected & therefore cannot speak to a resolution update on what Joyetech plans.
