That's an old trick Zeus, and I've been using it off and on, more on to be honest.
Dropping the temp about 70-100F from normal gives a passable vape.

Well I picked up the IPV D2 on the way home, set it to 400F/30J, put the KF4 on it I had as a demo for the error on the VTC. I vaped this all the way home without a single hitch.
I am a happy guy and will wait for a firmware fix for the VTC!
I don't have any of the heads, I picked up the version without the Atomizer. I have not used a coil head of any sort in a long time.so I may have figured something out...
do you still have the stock titanium heads>
i hope you do,screw it in to the tank,
screw the tank on the mod as the manual says,
but instead of going on ti mode,go for ni mode.
and pray you dont get screwed again...
i hope this helps..
apparently this solved my issue.
It's my first night with it so I don't know if there are any issues with the D2, I have not found any yet.How do you like the D2 compared to the vtc mini?
The extra coil that came with the ego one tank ,the reserve?the one with the red rubber?I don't have any of the heads, I picked up the version without the Atomizer. I have not used a coil head of any sort in a long time.
I didn't get an Ego One tank as I bought the eVic VTC mini Express Kit, not the Full Kit. I had no use for an Ego One tank, all my tanks are rebuildable. The extra coil that came with the ego one tank ,the reserve?the one with the red rubber?
At any rate you have titanium wires coming in,
Build a coil and go with ni mode,I assure you all issues we have had trouble with in the past went away..even the sleep thing, did a bunch of reading on the evic vt apparently they have almost the same issue, the weak vape thing....
sent from my evic vtc mini
Don't worry too much. Not everyone has trouble with it. The problems I do have don't prevent me from getting a great vape. I might have to set it to 550 degrees to get the vape I otherwise get at 450 sometimes but I don't see that as a deal killer. It looks great and feels good in the hand. It has upgradeable firmware so maybe these glitches will be fixed soon.Wow wish I had read this forum before I purchased mine from the classifieds. I thought it was an awesome device based on you tube reviews now I'm not so sure. Haven't even received it yet and I'm already suffering buyers remorse. [emoji47]

In the same boat. Can only hope that we aren't plagued w these problems and that joyetech releases a fw update to solve them in a timely matter.Wow wish I had read this forum before I purchased mine from the classifieds. Don't expect problems, but if anything weird happens let us know. Maybe we can find a solution or workaround together.I just received the VTC Mini. The hardware version is 1.10. Shall i expect any problems?
I'm having exactly the same problem. Found few methods to get it to fire properly at any temperature but it would eventuallyI'm beginning to really not like the VTC Mini. TC seems to be all over the damn place. I initially attributed the inconsistencies to the factory coil heads. So, I tossed my Origen V3 on the Mini with a 0.1ohm Ni200 build and the problems continue. The same atty with the same build and the same temp and power settings work awesome on other TC mods. The Mini's performance was good when I was able to get it to prompt me for a new coil. It worked great until I let it sit for about five minutes and then the anemic performance started again. Doesn't matter if atty resistance is locked or unlocked. I have to max the temp at 600F to get any vapor production and heat at all.
I'm no stranger to TC mods - this is my 6th TC device. I am convinced some of these are simply defective. I am running the new firmware for whatever that's worth (not much, apparently). Glad I didn't actually pay for this thing. I received it for review and, based on this unit, the review won't be very good.
edit: I just took some time to actually read back through this thread and saw several posts describing nearly the exact behavior as I described. And, just because *your* unit works as intended, that doesn't mean those of us with problems don't know how to run the device.
The unit that i have is exactly the same as yours series. "Y08040"
