I'm getting ready to install it, FWIW I'm 99% sure 1.20 was not bundled in that update zip initially, I had downloaded the update weeks ago and it just had 1.1 in the zip

I agree. It seems like a good system. Slip it in the package unannounced as a sort of beta, then update the webpage if it proves to be stable.

Well I vaped all but a 1/2ml today on my tank in Temp Control mode running Ni200 at 520 deg set on 35w with a locked ohm resistance of 0.2 . I have to say that I really didn't experience any issues with temp control on my hardware version 1.00, firmware v1.20 setup. The device went to sleep numerous times today any woke up vaping like I left it, so I'm pleased with the results so far with it in Ni mode. Gonna give the Ti coils a go at it tomorrow at work to see if I get the same results.

Hopefully those who were having issues can get relief from their TC problems by trying the updated firmware, it's working so far on mine so there might be a glimmer of hope yet for those who were having problems.

Well I upgraded mine. I don't see any surface changes other than 75 watts. I've been running Ti in my Lemo for a week out so. This build has ranged from 0.62 to 0.51 ohms on the previous firmware with lower resistances requiring increases in set temperature as expected. This firmware reads the build as 0.55 ohms. 470f is a comfortable for me right now. We'll see how the night goes at work.

I was getting a .04 ohm drop from a wake up as soon as screen timed out and was a waste of time. Now I get a .02 ohm drop if I leave it for longer than 10 minutes. Having it maxed on watts has definitely stopped the immediate temp protect and also it seems to read correct start temp after a wake so showing 45 - 50°c instead of 185°C.

Look forward to seeing your results with ti wire mate, looks like we're definately heading in the right direction but would be nice to get some sort of acknowledgment from joyetech that there is a problem and there looking at it other than ignorance and silence.

Update: refined during sleep down to 0.52. Now set to 510f for a comfortable vape. I was hoping the did away with refinement altogether but that's not the case.

I'm seeing similar results as you and had to bump it up 10°c after a prolonged sleep but it's stayed rock solid and not showing any of the other characteristics that it had before. I can live with the refinement but agree that they should scrap it altogether.

Well no change in behavior for mine, locked in at .15, refined to .13 after sleep and then hits TC too early.

I got the same drop as you which required a small bump up in temp and it still hits temp protect pretty quick which is the way it is designed to work but the watts stay around 11 and it appears to be reading the starting temp correctly now. One thing I ain't done is lock in the resistance , what watts are you at?

Hi again!

I've been lurking the thread in full silent mode for some days, after getting the annoying feeling of being beating some dead horse. In that time, as it happened before, since I got my VTC mini almost a full month ago, my unit has never failed or disappointed me in any circumstance.... and I've barely used it in normal power/VW mode....

In the Spanish forums devoted to our shared passion no one has complained about it either. Which I found it strange, but it's true that the units have started to land massively in my country just in the last two weeks. I discarded long time ago any relationship between your failed units and hardware/firmware versions, but....

Truth to be told, I suspect that just a vague minority of users are really enjoining the TC modes and fully embracing it. Most of the population prefer to hit their atomizers without any restraints and find disappointing the 'ABS-like' nature of the temperature control. They like black and smoking breaking trails.....;)

Having said that, about the surreptitious nature of the unpublished and undocumented update, which was just added to the existent one....well, that's weird, isn't it? I'm not going to pull up my VTC using that 1.20 version, if my unit behaves as I expect, am I?

So I'm going to lay down with you a bit more to see what happens. In full 'lurker' but not 'deaf' mode, if you get what I mean. It's half intriguing and half mesmerizing, so it's really interesting!.....:)

Tapatalking...Mind those lampposts!

If mine were driving 11w to the coil in TC I wouldn't get much of any vapor, with a moderate draw on my super tank using a .15 ohm Ni200 coil the happy place is 30-35w to the coil and holding at about .38 or .39 ohm while pulling for flavor, vapor and a little warmth. Now when it reads the coil at .13 it tops out at 17-19ish watts to the coil when maxed at 600/315 so at .13 even max temp gives some vapor no warmth barely any flavor. At least I am still able to use the device, it was fairly easy this time to lock in at .14 where I can get a decent vape at 570-600, yes it's not calibrated right because tapping fire still reads 180ish degrees cold but it works and never refines down to .12 so whatever.

I've had my Mini for just shy of 3 weeks now. HW 1.06 FW 1.10. Been using it exclusively and running Ti only. And 17k+ puffs later, I've ran into an anemic vape only twice. First was due to not dialing the temp/wattage correctly. Second time I had trouble getting the resistance locked correctly. Let the coil cool for 5 minutes, pressed the fire button thrice before screwing the atty on and locked it. Fixed. Ran a KS with a spaced coil for the first 2 weeks. Been running my Veritas with a single horizontal contact coil for the past 4 days. Somehow they both came out to .42 ohm so I can switch without concern. :thumb: Was worried the Veritas would give me fits as my peek nut melted a while back and I've been running it without one. This caused the resistance to fluctuate on my iStick 50W so I ran it in VV mode to compensate. Surprisingly it's been working great on the Mini. Running it at 590 and I can vape her dry without even the slightest taste of dry hit. Gonna try my Marquis with duals later tonight. Truly hate hearing all of the negative experiences some are having. Hope you all get sorted.

Loved the eGrip w/RBA at the time, although I could never go back to it now. Looking forward to the Nebox. It's about time someone else took a stab at an AIO. Currently anxiously awaiting the revised OBS Crius. Murdered out to match my Mini and dat sidefill.

If you haven't yet, give Native Wicks a shot. Decided to give it a go after watching Super X's vid and I too am finding it superior to KGD. Wicks faster with a cleaner taste. Haven't had the time to test the heat resistance yet but I'm sold.

Hmm, wonder if it may because your build is at 0.2Ω that yours is working OK. I think it was Zeus that mentioned earlier that 0.2Ω worked for him, at least for awhile.
I'm following this thread because I'm on the fence. Looks like things are starting to look up. I hope they get it even closer, as I really want this mod!

No joy on mine with the 1.20. The hardware is 1.00 (White).

But... my issue has always been the Ti mode and I only have the head that came with the Mega tank.

No sleep issues at all with it in Ni mode. Very satisfying (for what the tank is) 2 cu. ft. thick cloud at 35w and 410F. But absolute crap in Ti mode even up at 550F. 550F? That's just not right.

For grins... I need to finish up with the Ni head in my Crown and swap in my last SS head. I want to try SS in Ti mode and I can compare between this and my D2. Cube II as well later, if I ever get around to the Ti/SS upgrades.

so far im liking the change. i can actually use my TFV4 with the 0.15ohm coil now that i can get the wattage a little higher. at 60W i found it a little weak. bump it up to 65W and its nice. sitting at 19.7A drawing from the battery which is great for the samsung 25r. at some point i need to try TC again. i took out the Ni coil from my subtank mini and just went back to regular kanthal because of the issues i was having.

No love here either.. did all the steps as listed earlier, locked resistance etc. misbehaved straight away.. this is using a Ni200 OCC coil in my STM 250°c at 32W.. hit TP instantly! Admittedly the wattage stayed a little higher than before the update, wavering around 11-15W from what I could see, but still no cigar!

Back to kanthal for me as well, but at least now I can power up my Crown on this little monster as well, I needed higher than 60W for a tasty vape to suit my taste buds

What does the resistance read on your ni200 OCCs? Mine would always read around 0.23 even though they were labeled 0.15. These were vertical ones.
