I get you now so I've not tried it in power mode yet after update. I'm scared I might break it in tc mode and would be back to square one with it! Lol
I currently only have temp coils & have not tried it in power mode either. I do like both the VT & VTC but their tanks are horrible. 1st thing I did was get rid of the Mega tanks for both

Yeah I prefer to see numbers and an explanation rather than just some facebook page that says "hey guys look what we can do"!
:danger:
well more than happy to sacrifice mine it was free I will try to get some different coils & report back

Set a EGo One Mega tank up for Ti last night using stock 0.4 Ti coil. The VTC-Mini read the initial resistance a 0.43 which was a little high, so I left it unlocked and vaped it for a bit. Still settles down to 0.43 after it cooled a couple times so I just locked it in at that resistance figuring it was a variation in the stock Ti Coil.

I have never vaped on Ti coils before so I started low in Temp and Watts and worked up to start finding my sweet spot. For me it seemed pretty good at 460 deg running 35w. Vape seemed much warmer running Ti at 460 deg versus Ni at 520 deg yesterday.

So I let it sit over night and this morning it was showing the same readings when I first woke it up to vape. Vape has been consistent during the commute to work and now that its been sitting a bit here the readings are still the same as last night.

So for me there seems to be no issue using Temp control in either Ti or Ni mode. Will vape this tank out today to continue my testing but so far so good. Will post later today to see if it maintains its resistance and vape quality.

New in the Queue
http://www.tasteyourjuice.com/wordpress/2015/10/05/new-in-the-queue-kanger-nebox/
  • Wont be compatible with Square OCCs, Uses Smaller round OCCs
  • Compatible with NI200 and Ti in TC & SS OCCs in non TC
  • No airflow adjustment; Airflow described as fairly open
  • airflow may not suit MTL
  • 18650 bottom inserted with coin slot screw cap
  • Atomizer base screws in bottom with knurled edges and coin slot cap
  • Looks like fill is remove atty/Base, then bottom fill
  • Tank is not removable for cleaning
Thanks for the heads up on the Nebox being in the queue--Very informative and somewhat surprising. Size is smaller than I expected. Fully expected the atty base to have a knurled airflow ring on it with cyclops air holes that only had limited travel - like an EGO One Mega Tank ring so it could be turned in and out easily and still be adjusted. Never expected no airflow control at all or that it would use yet another type of proprietary coils. I don't really think this airflow will be like a wide open subtank mini and that GUI looks pretty darn primitive. One would think upgradeable firmware is not incorporated and SS TC mode will never happen.

Starting to think this isn't gonna check all my boxes for a durable work mod after all. Just hope they scare the hell out of Joyetech and spur them to modify the egrip by using the evic vtc Control panel, 18650 battery 10 ml tank, with airflow at least comparable to the Ego One Mega tank with the 0.5 CL coils in it.

Sorry for the OT:offtopic:

Yeah it's gonna have its limitations but it's got rba so don't need to worry about buying coils, just buy a spare base and have that built ready with a spare battery and I be good to go. As for the non removable tank, I'm an egrip fan so who cares. Gonna miss the side fill from egrip but 10ml should prolong needing to take the base out to often and if the airflow to loose I will stick some duct tape over it. Besides buy xmas they will have version 2 with controllable airflow and a whole host of improvements lol. Agreed that scene ain't very pretty but will have to live with that till egrip vtc comes out.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the mega standard but much better with the clr and after I dremeled some juice slots in the bottom of the chimney. Still I primarily bought the mini for home use with my drippers which I'm looking forward to using tonight. I've destroyed so many 510 connection's in my pocket at work that's why I'm an egrip user.

My favourite rta for flavour is a little ruzgar clone I picked up for peanuts. Very tight draw but drilled it out and it's much better only downside for me is it only holds 2.5ml at a push.

I built this the other night in my magma clone when I got bored of messing about with tc on the mini. I gotta say it is amazing the flavour this build gives off and quite pleased as it's the first fancy coil I've done and I don't think it came out to bad.

Sorry misunderstanding I'm at 75watts set but after initial boost it hovers around the 11 mark to control the temp as it's supposed to do. So if I'm reading you right your getting a resistance drop of .25!? That seems an awful lot and something definately not right there

No, I'm getting a .02 resistance drop typically, I was talking about where the VTC hits TP when firing, on my .15 coil when it's keeping to about .39-.4 the vapor is pretty warm, when the base resistance is read at .12 ohm it will hold to .35ish at the same temp setting. So my unit seems to work consistently, it probably follows the temp curve it's designed for its just when its reading the base resistance too low it underperforms.

I have black box evic vt mini too and I used a EGo One Mega tank in TI mode using stock 0.4 Ti coil. Resistance was at 0,41. After I locked resistance I am vaping at 270°C and 37,5W.Resistance is the same all day long. Very welll vaping on TI mode J

Was just wondering, how you feel about 0.1 increments in wattage settings? I only use tc, and really don't care if i set it on 32.4 or 32.9 watts, just takes quite some time to get around if i want to lower the power..0.5 or even 1W increments would be fine for me, see no point in 0.1?

I got my wish, when i was asking for mini version here in jully, maybe this can happen as well? :D

Decided to break out the Ego one mega and try the Ti coil. So far just like the Ni200 coil it reads at its rating (this one .4) and has not refined down any after sleep. As such the vape has been consistent since I put it on and works great. Seems like mine is less janky than others but not flawless like others, ah well. Just pre-ordered the nebox and I'll be passing my VTC to the wifey when I get it (maybe)

Hope you realise that by being an early adopter of the nebox like me were letting ourselves in for more pain lol.

Agreed wattage increments of .1 are useless and I also dislike not being able to scroll both ways though the wattage in tc mode. It's needs a third button, but they can't fix that in a firmware update! :?:

Hi and welcome to the " I wish I hadn't bought a mini" thread. I only get the new/same coil question if I fire an atty unscrew then put back on hot and hold the fire button down. It only detects a resistance change that's higher not lower so a new atty that's cold won't throw it up it just resets the base resistance which is how it's designed. I didn't think it was working for me and I missed the question to begin with as it only shows when you put a warm atty on and immediately hold down the fire button.
Which hardware version is yours?
My VTC Mini is hardware version 1.00. Currently running firmware v1.10.

Oh certainly! That's why I added the maybe at the end :D Wouldn't be the first finicky device I've worked with, so no biggie as long as it's usable.

Just upgraded to firmware v1.20 (my hardware is v1.00). Seems to behave slightly better when watching the display, but it's hard to see.

My initial impression is that vapes are still weaker in Ti mode, but a bit better than with firmware 1.10. In Ni mode (using Ti wire), I get a nice warm vape at 370F at 35W. In Ti mode with the same atty, the VTC Mini must be set at about 520F/35W to get the warmth. Is it the same vape...? Similar, but the ramp up is faster in Ni mode at 370F/35W, and the flavor is better. So I keep going back to Ni mode, which I'm happy with. No dry hits is the goal... and the VTC Mini is accomplishing that.

I'm using a Velocity clone rda with dual 26ga Ti coils at 0.21ohms. Similar results with a Plume Veil using the same build. I haven't seen any resistance changes (locked).
