Believe me, it says v1.03. How or why? I don't know, but that is what the update software said. I posted because I just got it today and was thinking I got one from an early batch or something, also, was wondering if it was worth it to update it or just leave it alone. How was the TC working on these early models? 60watt is good enough for me tho..

Oh I believe ya bro, I'm just very surprised. I almost DON'T want you to upgrade so we can experiment with you! ;-) But as far as anyone can tell, the 1.20 update is great, fine, doesn't hurt anything and gives you 75W, also the "dynamic resistance" thing, which I think just means the display shows you the ohms changing as the device gets hot and/or cold.
Hell, since we don't know anything about 1.03, yours might already have an early version of that (it was first released in the 1.10 firmware).

Yeah it musta been a early batch or something, cuz noone has heard of 1.03 before. You got a "development" unit or something. As far as the TC working or not goes, it doesnt seem to be limited to any specific hardware version or firmware version. It's all over the map. If it's working for you well, that's awesome.

He is precisely my point, He is a guy who doesn't have issues with his mod and wants to get on a thread and share his happiness in a good buy that he is proud of and when he goes to this thread, he is looking for a bunch of people who are just as happy with the units as he is. He wants to share his exuberance but he can't do that without a half dozen guys jumping all over it and spoiling his perception.
You couldn't possibly mean stylemessiah...

Right off the bat his first two posts do not look like he is wanting to share his happiness.

I have inquired with a dozen or more people on FB if they are having any problems with TC mode on the eVic VTC mini. The answer I received from each of them was "Never tried TC, I use it in Watt mode" and a few even asked "Does that TC mode work with Kanthal"? I know this is just a minuscule sliver of users, if they never use TC mode they would not find any problems or seek out a solution.

I my local B&M the other week there were 6 guys in there with iPV D2's, they all had drippers on them @75W. They liked the small size of the D2 and it rocks the 13H9H at 75W for Cloudz Bro!

So I'd say that most of the users of these tiny devices buy them for the small form factor and not as an entry level TC device.

Yea, I'm afraid to upgrade because I don't see a way that I could "downgrade" back to 1.03!
Too bad we don't have a way to save the firmware you have now. Oh well.

Seriously, dude, I would upgrade...it has only benefits as far as we know. Hell, one person's TC problem went away after 1.20...so I think you're cool.

I got news for you guys, you people with issues with this mod are very much in the minority. There are thousands and thousands of people out there enjoying their units right now not getting on this thread whining about no fixes yet and telling each other to put their mods in the freezer for two hours and reboot. You few have however monopolized this thread to make it the most negative thing going for quite a long time. I've tried to jump in and help those with issues understand that they are better off taking all those issues to a different thread that parallels this one. One that just lists the negative issues that are being experienced in a positive, problem solving manner to be used as an evidence points thread to copy Joyetech on and link to. A growing resource of symptoms, serial numbers affected, purchase date, where purchase from, vendors support stories, Etc - not polluted by people just wanting to express their joy in their new purchase and chat with others who are like minded. By having the negatives thread separate, it can be used to pressure Joyetech to taking corrective action, document their inaction on this issue, and work to help Joyetech solve the remaining issues by developing working theories to solve the problem.

This has fallen on deaf ears for quite a while and I have issues with those who will not take the time to work together to help themselves in a positive manner for the greater good while avoiding raining on other people exuberance and joy in their new purchase. With a mod like this both viewpoints can and should exist simultaneously as parallel threads each serving the needs of their following to their fullest and complementing the other when there a people looking for opinions from both viewpoints when contemplating a purchase.

Please accept my sincere apologies for and thanks for enduring a much needed rant on my part!
I'm one of those people that are watching this thread to decide whether or not to buy this mod.

It saddens me that some of the people that have come on here lately have had problems - still liking the mod, so waiting to see if there's a fix coming. It doesn't help me at all that some of the people with no problems, without having done any backreading, come on and ridicule or talk down to the ones that are having problems. Simply coming here to report that they got a good, problem-free unit or expressing their joy would've sufficed and helped me more. A few have expressed joy, and that there truly are good units to be had - others have been rude and condescending - not helpful at all. And if his approach would've been more constructive (like Drifter's), maybe he wouldn't have been met with so much anguish.

The ones who are having problems, I don't see their posts as rants or whining at all. I see them as sharing their experiences with hopes of finding solutions. In my eyes, they are actively trying to work together to solve the issues. And I hope they work it out, as I do still really want one of these. It would be nice if no one had any problems, then this thread would be all sugar and spice and rainbows like you want it to be, but sadly that is not the case. And as someone who is deciding whether or not to buy one of these, it helps to see both sides. But the people with good units have to express their exuberance and joy without ridiculing the ones with faulty ones - again, that's just not helpful. You, of course, are welcome to start a good-units-only thread if you'd like. :) The discussion of problems seems to have grown too much to move now, IMO.

No need to reply. You are now on my Ignore list, as I don't particularly find your rants very helpful in my decision-making.

Happy to add two of these wonderful mods to my collection - I'm not a TC user (Nickel still scares me) so the recent issues haven't affected my enjoyment. Liking this much more than the rDNA40 I spent much more money on.

If you don't mind me asking. Where did you get the skins? And the white subtank?

If you are looking to get this mainly for TC then it may be a little bit of a gamble, some work great others not so much in TC. If you mainly like the design, size and use mostly VW mode, then this is a fantastic little mod. It feels very solid, nice weight to it, battery life is good, screen is nice, menus are easy. I am not a fan of the eGo One Mega tanks that come with the kits personally. It's just a matter of how much of a priority TC is for you. You may get one that works flawlessly in all modes, many people have. I bought one mainly for the TC & size, so for me it was a problem.

Thanks - I'm not that lucky. I do like the size/looks, and I heard it is an awesome VW mod, but would be crushed if I got one with defective TC. Plan to use 430SS, so would work for me either way, but still. If anything, looks like eFunTop might be the place to get one (hopefully newer stock), but still wanna wait a little longer to see how it plays out for you guys. :) Not MUCH longer. Getting hard to resist. :p

For the record, heres another try at positive, it will probably fail again, because theres some who dont like being told it actually works, but here goes:

My second Mini (from a different vendor, just to increase the odds of getting a "bad" one) has the same hw version as the first (1.04) and, updated to 1.20, works as flawlessly as the first one. Took the tank off my original, put it on the new one, same resistance read, locked, fired and same vape. Nothing to see here.

Id better go before the people with single digit IQ's tear into me again and call me stupid. Personal insults are the only currency some people have to spend in this thread, apparently.

p.s. The guy at the B&M i bought the second one from, who has the choice of many shiny mods, loves his too.

Where'd you purchase yours from, and how long have you had your first one?

Your attempts at a positive post fails because, unlike your VTC mini mine did not work properly and you refuse to acknowledge that fact. I tried the same atty on 5 different TC devices and all of them performed flawlessly except for the VTC mini. The guy at the local B&M who exchanged mine, found the same results with another unit from that shipment. So it is quite possible that the ones which are failing came from a bad batch of wafers directly from the fabricator or one of the assemblers had a bad day with the soldering iron. I don't think Joyetech is going to pull a few thousand units because they sort of half work? It would cost more to pull them than the product is worth.

There might be only a small bunch of people that have a problem and many, many more who do not. It is good that yours works perfectly, 6 months down the road all of the bad batch ones might be gone and everyone will have a working device. Unfortunately that is not the case right now for those that own defective ones...

And then you temper your positive post by running your mouth about single digit IQ's...

You can make that...a minuscule sliver...plus one...

Since I've not yet seen any good proof that nickle does not leech/off-gas into ejuice...I use mine only in VW.

And I LOVE it!!!

You can find the skins for about $1.50ish each at Fasttech. I got the Subtank mini from eciggity but you guys should try the Crius i have on the black VTC, its my new favorite.

Well I guess I'm glad I stepped away from this thread for a few weeks. I'm still having the same ole problems with my wife's VTC as I was before but she's been just using it in VW mode. I just bought her another new mini vaporflask so she's all happy so I'm happy lol. It's hard to hold back and not lose it at certain people still saying it's user error. I can't get over that last guys few posts about its all our fault and so on. I really think the VTC mini is a great mod but only 95% or so are working properly. And joytech is not trying to help the people that have these non working devices. Hopefully they make a firmware upgrade to fix these devices or atleast admit there is a problem and make it right.
