With the updates that joyetech keeps pushing out. I would choose the Evic every time. It's not even a close decision in my mind...a no brainer.
From the other angle though, do you really want a mod that keeps needing to be updated?
Just kidding. I'm pretty much sold - just waiting for the new colors to come out. :)
Hmmm, the combos:
White with black, gray with red, gold with cyan, ...that's gonna drive me crazy!

So you'll be buying 2 and switching the battery covers? Good thinking! You'll want 2 anyway [emoji23]
Oh, and the obvious choice is black with red.

If you haven't already, try the cord that came with the device in the box. Lots of micro USB cords out there don't have the data wires installed. Only the power wiring for charging devices. I've run into that issue before with some of my cords.

The first time I tried was the cord that came with the device. When that didn't work, I tried a different data cable I have, which also didn't work. I checked the ports on my computer and the cables, and both seemed fine. I can charge the mini, but the hardware still doesn't register.

I wonder if it's the device's USB port, but like I said, it charges fine, so I don't know what to do next... I guess I can try from a different computer this weekend and see what happens. Frustrated that I can't get it updated to 75w and to the new SS setting!![emoji35]

Got mine in black (w/o the tank) last week, but hadn't had much time to learn the menu and truly play with it (too busy, tired, & distracted to learn it all yet). So, I put in a battery, tested it with a standard-style tank, and it worked just fine in wattage mode, as I hadn't received my Ni coils/TC tank yet. I immediately loved the look, feel, and weight of this thing!

I've been after a new tank, but hadn't decided on what I wanted (I hate shiny-itis! LOL) until now... The SS TC upgrade to the firmware made me decide on the Aspire Triton. I love their Nautilus & Atlantis and I already have a couple of the Sega Anyvape RBAs to break in (I also have a Eleaf Melo), so the Triton with its Stainless Steel wire coils for TC (that also fits all of those other tanks) was a logical choice for me. I ordered it in black/silver & in white/silver (Triton clones, with good reviews though), so I will also have a cool looking white VTC Mini, too (shiny-itis is in full swing... Yes, I've ordered another ).

Hopefully, I'll have the ample time to play with the mod(s) properly soon! Once I get the operation down pat, I hope to find the time to finally learn how to build coils. I've been a plug-n-play vaper all this time and I've been procrastinating.

Evening all, thought I'd pop in and check back as I've not been here for couple weeks.
I'm happy to report that touch wood the vtc hasn't missed a beat since my tinkering/swearing/voodoo/firmware update fix . In fact so pleased I just ordered a second unit (oh no here we go again!)o_O

Sorry to hear there's still a few with issues though, I'd really keep pushing the same firmware update over and over till something sticks as it wernt till I semi bricked mine that it started behaving:mad:.

Zeus01 how's yours doing now, still good?

Tpat591 you do know we spent a lot of time on the joyetech forum begging for help which never came so it ain't like we never tried and if it wernt for the righteous collective on this thread we may never of got as far as we did with a fix. Although doing a bit of back reading I see were still getting the " mine ain't broke so yours aint broke" routine. I guess the whole issue was purely user error and in my head. I must have imagined it all, sigh......:)

On a ridiculously off topic note these hybrid ti/kanthal claptons rock!

I was under the impression that the update was done with the battery out, and that's how I've done mine each time. But I've read one or two users who had to keep the battery in for it to work... for them.

Sorry if you've mentioned trying this already, if not... it's worth a shot.

Strange I ordered another in black and that never crossed my mind.

Now I'm sitting back with my white evic mini in my left hand imagining it in two tone and black tank on top. Looking SHARP and growing fonder of it each day.

I've been following this thread quite awhile and I went back and forth between the VTC Mini and D2 also. I ended up choosing the D2 and have not regretted it. The screen is much nicer on the VTC Mini, obviously, but it doesn't bother me since I don't spend much time looking at it. I do like that the screen on the D2 is nicely recessed, so no worries about scratching or breaking. I also like the more rounded shape of the D2, but the thing it doesn't have is upgradeable firmware, which is a great selling point.

I've been thinking it seems that the kinks have been worked out of the more recent runs of the VTC Mini and close to just buying one until I heard about the new VTC Mini. I thought I'd wait for the newer model until I saw this...

    presa_tc75w_02.jpg

The new Wismec Presa 75w TC

It doesn't have SS TC yet, but it is upgradeable, so I would expect it to have it soon. Like I said, I love my D2, but would like another compact mod and now trying to decide on the new VTC Mini or the new Wismec Presa. The decisions just get tougher....
I think I like this guy... Wismec is a subsidiary of joyetech so, i'm guessing its got a VERY similar board... plus I like the ergonomics of the new presa :) could be a winner.

Yeah that's something that crossed my mind about getting it hot in vv/vw mode and bad solder joints but prefer to think the black magic was the real cure, anyway Wat issue!? Don't you know we only imagined it! :D:lol:

Im loving the ti coils now, such clean flavor and the vapour is easily on par with kanthal now I've started to get a bit creative. I'm making my own claptons mate it really ain't hard with a drill and couple of fishing swivels. I started with 24g gr1 ti core and wrapped 32g a1 kanthal around it, 2.5mm I'd. As the current takes the path least resistance it works in tI mode but needs temp bump to compensate and heat the kanthal. Would have made pure ti clapton but need some higher gauge ti wire which is now on order along with ridiculous amounts of 316L SS. Speaking of which now that joytech has bestowed the vtc with ss mode any particular wire/build advice for a stainless noob? :)

I've been making SS tc coils for a few weeks and I basically treat it almost the same as Kanthal (except spaced).

I usually do 2.5mm-3mm id 7-8 wraps. It's got a higher resistance than Ti or Ni200 so unlikely to build it too low.

I've got 24/26/28g 317L, it's possibly better or the same as Kanthal for ease of coiling.

I've stopped using my Ti, it's so awful to build with. Like trying to build with a slinky.

Have you tried working your way up? Go to the first update, then the new one...maybe there's a driver that gets installed with previous updates...

I'm wondering if you might've fixed something on the 510 when you had started to take it apart and put it back together again too. ;) Maybe you did something to clean up the mess they put in there...

Got my mini a few months ago and never bothered to update the firmware, but decided to try to do it today. I went to the website, downloaded the appropriate driver (I'm on a Mac, using El Capitan), and plugged in the mini to try to do the update. But when the update window opened, it didn't recognize the device. I hit "update" but got "has not found the hardware equipment" message.
I tried deleting the update firmware application and downloading it again but got the same message. I also tried different data cables and different USB ports and still found no joy.
Anyone have any ideas here? Anyone successfully update from a Mac?

I've updated a few times using my MacBook Air, all flawless updates... Well except that I still see the TC issue with Ti, but the updates themselves worked fine.

Yeah I popped over to the Joyetech Thread and I would Like to take this opportunity to congratulate @zeus01 for starting the thread over there on 10/1/15. I'm really proud of him for starting that and all the good people from this forum/thread who took the time to voice their issues over there and for organizing your efforts! Well done! I'm impressed Joyetech has not censored or suppressed the thread over there as I really expected that they would.

Particularly liked the linking of this thread there, but believe it would have been more effective if it was a dedicated thread here that was just used by users to report their Serial#, Issues experienced, communications and dates with vendor support & responses/lack thereof, Communications and dates with Joyetech Service and response/lack thereof. If updated regularly after each communication/lack of response each of you who have been affected and plagued with these issues, the pressure on Joyetech would grow very quickly as others who started having issues reported their problem as well and were able to link it in their service tickets, Emphasizing Joytech's apparent apathy toward customer service.

    upload_2015-11-7_3-4-55.png

Really Liked it when @Ivau linked five pages of TC discussions from Fasttech and 67 pages of issues from the German Vaping forum as well as it brings these issues to light and forces Joyetech to acknowledge and take action on the issues. I might have taken it a step further and figured a creative way to direct FT Forum users to that thread from each of the Evic VTC Item listings without violating the linking policy on FT Forum on Joyetech Same with treads from Vaping forums in the Europe, Austrailia, Asia, ETC to ratchet the pressure up until a correction effort is undertaken by Joyetech by constantly reminding them that as a leading vendor of vaping supplies in the world we in the community require them to act in a manner appropriate with that role with regards to customer service!

My most sincere congratulations and respect are offered to Zeus01 for beginning the effort and to each and every one of you who took your time to participate in this effort! Great start but you need to keep the pressure increasing at all times until a resolution is found!

For those of you who have had these TC issues with the Evic VTC Please take a few moments to join Zeus01 in his efforts on this thread : temp protection issues.

    Well done!
