My coils have been going bad really quickly. They don't taste burnt, however there is a drop in vapor. The main issue though is the taste of the liquid. I'm vaping BB and after less than 2 ml it goes from a sweet tobacco flavor to a caramalized, not-quite burnt rendition of the prior. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I thought there were good coils and doa coils, is there a such thing as coils that go bad quickly? I opened up a new pack of coils and will see if the desired flavor persists longer. I'm vaping at 4.1 volts on an eGo Twist with a 2.0 ohm coil, which according to my calculations comes in around 8 watts.

I could never get my evod coils to last longer than a few ml if I went over 6.4W, which I believe was around 3.4-3.5v on the 1.8ohm head. I see plenty of people saying they run them at 10W and ridiculous numbers, but it never worked well for me. 6.4W I could use 1 coil weeks, the higher I went over that the faster it burnt out

It seems like it's getting worse. Went through ~2ml and the coil has gone bad. It's not just that the sweetness is gone, that it tastes "caramelized," it tastes burnt. I didn't used to have this problem. I could probably go at least 8 ml until it went bad. Could it be a problem with my twist? The vape doesn't seem particularly warm, and I have three different ones and I've been having this problem regardless of which one I used.

I like the EVOD it has a nice aesthetic and the only other thing I have is a tank with boge cartomizers and those don't draw the liquid well. And for anyone wondering, I have pulled one of the wicks from the EVOD coils.

I also have a problem with them, but my problem is they only last 4-5 days before the coils break. I have the 2.5 ohm heads from 2 separate sources (Kanger and a trusted vendor).
I use a clear peppermint 60/40 liquid and starting voltage is 3.4v. After 2 fills the resistance starts rising and as time passes they continue until they reach about 3.5 ohms then the coil breaks where the leg & coil meet. I have to gradually raise the voltage to about 4.1v to get a decent vape. I have used 15 heads to date getting about 15 ml average per head. I have tried cleaning heads every 2 fills but had no difference in performance.
For comparison I have had Phoenix BC units last months and used over 500 ml of the same liquid in one before it burned out. The Phoenix's were cleaned about once a week and dry burned every 2 weeks. Average daily liquid use was 3-4 ml.

Coils are likely not going bad. Gunk is being baked onto the coil and wick. This is a common issue with certain combinations of e-liquid/heat User error.
For your particular preference, I would suggest replacing the coil head every 2 tanks working or not and place the removed head in an alcohol soak.
Learn how to clean/rinse as dry burn to bring coils back to usable condition.

I vape 100% VG and tis why I don't use clearos anymore and moved to a bottom feeder.

However, I do have an ego w/an evod I carry around for errands, have it filled for 3 days now with BB, no problems. Some cheapie vision knockoff clearo. I love the taste of EVODS but have also had bad luck with the coils. Maybe a lot of bad batches out there, dunno.

So 6.5 watts is doing me good; I've been through 8ml or so and still great taste and decent vapor. I miss high wattage though for when I'm needing a fix and was wondering if there are any other clearos out there that can handle high wattage better than EVOD and also if they can handle high VG juices. How about the iClear? I have a carto-tank for when I want to crack up the voltage, but the taste isn't that great on the carto even on a lower wattage, say 7, I find.
