Vanilla flavors leave bad taste after dry-burn?

I vape mostly thin juice in CE4's, and it's mostly hassle free. I dry-burned a few after cleaning them out, and noticed how a blueberry/vanilla clearo now has this slightly burnt / silica taste. The coil wasn't even that gunky, but some residue did burn off. The gunkiest coil was from a blackberry VG based juice, but that 1 doesn't have a lingering bad taste, nor do any other clearo's I've cleaned. I don't clean them w/ alcohol or anything, just some solid rinsing w/ hot water and then full air-drying. Could it be an issue w/ vanilla flavors?

I've never had an issue with vanilla flavors, though I have had issues with vanilla flavored alcohol being added to a mix which resulted in a very off-putting taste when switching between flavors. I ended up having to rebuild the coil on my IGO-L to get rid of the taste, which would be akin to simply dumping the head on an existing atty and putting in a new one if you don't rebuild.

What blueberry vanilla flavor were you vaping?

If you don't want to use PGA to soak, you can get some boiling hot water and just drop the unit in and let it soak. That should help quite a bit and that's what I did when I was using the CE4's before moving to larger rebuildable tanks. The only flavor it didn't work on was a jager like flavor and that's because licorice is a potent, strong and nasty flavor :).

Yea I forgot to mention I did rinse again afterwards, but w/ the CE4's I use primarily, they're not rebuildable so I can't take them apart. I don't kno how much water is really able to get into the center hole to rinse the coil.

That clearo had an extra blueberry / vanilla ice-cream B&M flavor in it, and something different before that, so it's a clearo that had seen a fair amount of usage. I had another clearo take on the slightly burnt silica taste today too while I was using it (DIY 24mg Red Bull clone), but this is my oldest clearo. I assume this is just how they get eventually, cuz vaping 2+ months rotating w/ 11 CE4's, I've still yet to throw 1 out. I'm gonna try boiling those 2 at some point, but I'm not counting on them or anything. I ended up ordering 7 more last night for $9.50.
