Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm FINALLY getting ready to place my order since I found the VTC /w TRON on sale. The place I'm buying from carries two batteries, Sony VTC4 18650 2100mAh 30A and Samsung INR18650 25R 2500mAh 20A. It's only a $1 difference between the two so price doesnt matter.

Should I go with one over the other?
Just read through the thread. You're on the right track, but I would substitute 1.0 Ohm CLR heads for the 0.5 CLR heads. I fear that the 0.5 Ohm coils would be a bit too much for you in terms of heat compared to the EVOD coils you're used to. You can always rebuild them lower, later. As for the batteries? I would get the Samsung batteries. They're both quite good, but there have been concerns about the availability and authenticity of many Sony batteries on the market.

New VTC's come with a Cubis tank. I coiled and wicked a Tron and a Cubis tank. Put in the same juice in both tanks and Cubis is very muted flavor. Wife did not believe me it was even the same juice in both tanks. Cubis tank is a little more maintanace free. Tron needs cleaned every tankful or two. CHEERS!

Cool, thanks for the info! I don't mind a little extra maintenance as long as the flavor is better. Either way, it probably be an upgrade from the EVOD.

It would be a huge upgrade. The CL coils for the Tron can be easily rebuilt. The CLR coils you just have to change the cotton in the coils. Tron is a gr8 little tank. CHEERS!

So my VTC Mini came on. WWWWOOOWWW! Night and day difference from the EVOD. My go to liquid tastes soooo much better!! Right now, I have a 0.5 Ti head on it. Its set at 470F and 40w. Does that sound about right?
If you're liking it, it must be right.

Hey Everyone,

I've been vaping for a couple years now on my old trusty EVOD setup. I believe I'm still using 1000mah batteries. It's getting to the point that I'm debating on if its worth replacing batteries or upgrading to something else. So, I've been considering the eVic VTC Mini with the Tron tank but I dont know much about mods and such. So, let me give you the basics:

What I Want:
  • Portable (Can put in my pocket easily with it looking like I'm packing heat)
  • Adjustable (if I'm feeling like a little more vape that day, I'd like to be able to kick it up)
  • Upgradable (nothing more annoying than a company releasing a new device for a simple software upgrade)
  • Available (Mainly something I can get coils for easily)
  • Removable battery
  • Can last me a day on one charge (I usually go through 2 EVOD batteries in a day)
  • Around $100
  • Something I can still use my EVOD tanks with. I really like carrying around several small tanks with different flavors with me all day so I can switch.
What I dont want (or don't care about):
  • Don't care about creating clouds of vape
  • I don't need top of the line at this point. Just an upgrade from EVOD
  • I don't need something that does some crazy sub ohm, "Is this really a smart idea?", kind of stuff.
My vaping habits:
  • I guess I'm mouth to lung (sometimes just mouth as I don't inhale all of the time)
  • I mainly vape PG 65%/VG 35% fruit juices with a little splash of menthol
  • I build my own coils with the EVOD. Usually around 1.8ohm with Kanthal
I have read that the Tron tank isn't the best option out there. I'm sure there are plenty better. But, for around $14 more over just getting the mod by itself, I'm willing to give it a shot. First, I'm sure it'll still be an upgrade over the EVOD and, second, I can always upgrade later.

Does the eVic VTC Mini with the Tron tank sound like a good option for me?

Thanks!

I was in your position recently and I got a Kanger Topbox Mini starter kit. It's amazing. It's almost exactly what you described and I got mine for about $70.

I spent an additional $15 on two batteries and my friend had an extra charger he gave me.

You can also use a micro usb cord to charge it straight from the device. It's small-ish, fits nicely in the hand, has variable wattage for different hits, temp control if you ever do decide to get crazy with it, and is overall solid.

I love the design and the matte black color looks very handsome.

Make sure that if you're using wattage mode to only use coils made with kanthal. The nickel and others can be very dangerous used on anything other than temp control.

But like I said, the wattage works great and you never have to use anything else if you don't want to.

Sounds about right. The 40 watts is ramp up time to get up to 470 degrees. You can ramp it up fast or slow. I ramp up at 42 watts and my wife ramps up at 18.5 watts. All personal preference. After a couple tankfuls wash out the bottom under the coil. Juice will leak down their and gather and will not vape as good from loss of contact. CHEERS!

Have a quick question. On the way to work today, I noticed a very very faint burnt taste. The flavor of the juice is still coming thru, strong. But, I think I'm tasting a really faint burnt taste. Nothing like running my EVOD tank dry or anything. I turned the temp down to see if that helped and it didn't.

Is there anything I should do? Is it safe to vape thru it to see if it cleans up a bit?
