While I realize there isn't any solid proof of silica wicks actually being dangerous, reading through the thread was enough to set me out on alternatives. I have a agat2 on the way,in the meantime I've been rebuilding my EVOD heads. Initially built stainless wicks with 32 a-1 at 1.9 ohms. Didn't like the stainless. It worked well but, I was left with a irritated throat and headaches after a day of use. I am waiting on some 1 mm hemp twine and decided to try using the cotton teabag string as someone had mentioned in this invaluable forum.I happen to sell tea as an allied product to my coffee wholesale.
Made a 2.4 coil with 32. Used 5 teabag strings placed through the coil. Cut to length. Then an additional 5 teabag strings on top cut to length and replaced the center post. It's vaping like a charm and I have piece of mind. No leaks. Using Bobas and House. Both VG.
I assumed the cotton was clean and chemical free because it's fit for consumption. Am I right on this or would you suggest a boil? Thanks
