Evolv Kick intermittent issue in Ruffstack

Ok so i have a Ruffstack V2 and just got my Kick last night. It is honestly amazing. I am using it around 8 to 8.5 watts with a 18500 battery and 2 ohm ST single coil carts. Vapor production is awessome and the flavor is much better than using around 3.7 v. Honestly severely impressed.

Question i have is that every now and then it will not fire. even if i set it down and there is no movement or "jarring" going on it will not fire. this is and intermittent issue and i am still looking for the culprit. the only way i have found to get it to fire correctly is to smack it on my hand sideways.

Anyone else having issues like this and if so any help would be much appreciatied.

I'm not familiar with the build of that mod, but it sound's like the kick may not be grounded well. Take some sandpaper and rough up the inside of the tube where the ground pin touches and see if that helps. I could also be completely off base, so bear that in mind, lol.

I found black spots where the positive contact meets the battery. I also found that any problem with the contacts of pos-in, pos-out or ground cause it not to work. The thing's really touchy.

I actually have a spark plug cleaner that is a wire brush. I worked it out a but and I don't think it is a grounding issue. No signs of anodization or anything. It is nice and shiny and I pulled the spring out a slight pit to put a pressure on the side.

i have heard the kick needs to sit tight in the tube...try making a filler out of stock card to go next to the kick to keep it still.

+1 -- iamtumus has it right. My kick in my rough stack needed to be snugged up with a bit of card stock. I used a torn off bit of match book cover for a while until I lost it. A bit of a nice thick business card is good too, or a doubled over piece from a cheap thin business card.

A touch of noalox on the battery contact point and another tiny dab where it grounds did wonders as well.

Now if it just didn't drain an 18490 in under 2ml of consumption, I'd be pretty happy with it.

The nice thing about the kick is that I can put pretty much any single coil carto on it and not be concerned with ohms. - I've used 1.7, 1.8, 2.0, 2.4, 2.8. 3.0, and 3.2 ohm cartos with my kick. I set mine at 8.5-9.5w depending on which juice I have in the carto. - I feel lucky when I can get 2ml consumed with mine. That's what I really *don't* like about the kick - efficiency leaves a lot to be desired... but that's just how boost regulators are, so I shouldn't complain
