Hello everybody I am an ex smoker and a current dipper. I have recently been considering switching to e-cigs in the name of harm reduction. I really want to stop dipping, and have tried most unsuccessfully in the past. I just always find myself coming back to it. It is not because I like the feeling of it in my lip, purely the nicotine and the fact that what I dip is cheaper than smoking. I was just wondering if anybody had any past experience and if anybody thought vaping would be a better choice for me?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies so far. I am really interested in flavors to be honest and have been thinking about ordering this eGo-T kit as it comes with 3 different 10ml bottles of liquid and I don't really care what it looks like. I am just looking for a more effective and less harmful route of administration for nicotine.
Ego Tank System -1000 mah
Would this be a good buy for someone new?

Meh on the eGo-T. The performace is iffy and fiddly -- been there, wish I hadn't done that. Get an eGo Twist (or Vision Spinner) and a vivi nova tank if you wanna go the tank route (and you should). And throw in a Kanger T3 for grins. But regardless of your flavor prefs, you're prolly gonna want to go fairly heavy on the nic content until you adjust, then try backing down to 18mg/ml after awhile.

You can get a Twist, charger, a vivi and a couple or three 10 ml bottles of juice almost anywhere online for about $55.00 or less. Avoid the overpriced mall kiosks whatever you do!

From what I have read here that looks like a good starter. I started with the slim cig style and it just wasn't cutting it so recently bought a Volt X2, 900 mah with clearos....much more satisfying. I think it is smart to start with something that will be more promising to assure you can give up the other stuff! My husband went back to smoking because the smaller ecigs didn't help him, I ordered him the Volt X2 as well, hopefully it will work for him. I am not going back to the analogs with 5 months in and lungs that actually work now!

I was a 1/2 a can per day Grizzly Straight dipper for 8 years. I smoked for a few years when I was a teenager, but very rarely in the last 8 years. My fiancee and mom threw all types of nicotine products at me to try to quit but I never convinced myself I wanted to quit. For the last couple months of my tobacco use I was using Swedish snus about half the time, Grizzly the other half. I tried a penstyle ecig with an awful atomizer and an even more awful juice and I was hooked after 5 minutes.

I have not dipped for over 3 months! I've smoked one single cigarette during that time when I was without my ecig(s) for a night. There is a can of dip in my truck console I've seen at least 100 times since then and I have absolutely no desire what-so-ever to give it a second look. Vaping has become quite a hobby, and I have spent a ton more money than I would have if I were still using tobacco.

I am confident I could have still been successful with quitting using an ego twist and some various cartomizers and tanks. IMO You could spend $100 today and be set for several months with a great kit. Send me a PM if you're intersted and I'll send you some links to what I've been recommending to friends. I have two friends that have also completely quit smoking withing a few days of using an ecig as well. You CAN do it, and have fun in the process.

Sounds kinda spammy to me.

Outstanding! I startedf on 24 mg/ml, went down to 18 mg/ml and have been trying to settle in lately at 12 mg/ml. I don't worry as much about the nic as I do the other Bad Stuff from the tobacco use. It's easy to tell when you've had enough nic. :)

Now correct me if I am wrong. But I have seen that tobacco products contain certain MAOI's that add to the addiction. And seeing as how eliquid does not, how does this affect the outcome of switching over to vaping?

Suggestions are good go with spinner or twist and vivi nova. I am stuck on the mega just cause I hate filling up. Juice is diff story you have to find one you like that takes time and money especially if you're picky like me. I actually had to start making my own. Some find ones they like right away but I wasn't so lucky.

Good question. And not being a scientist (mad or otherwise) or a medical type person, I can't give you any factoids. All I can say is, from the first day I picked up a Blu disposable ecig at a chain drugstore one night on a lark (back in February of 2011) I have not had the cravings for tobacco that I had when I tried to just quit cold turkey. Not once. YMMV, of course, and I have never dipped, but it has worked for me no problemo (even though I guess I shouldn't tout any smoking cessation anecdotes).

Well I'm glad you enjoyed my vaping testimony. I hope yours ends up just as "spammy" with you wanting to share your story with someone else contemplating quitting
My bad, just the way it concluded sounded a bit predictable. While I appreciate it, it seemed very copy and paste. Maybe I read to much into it and if so I apologize, but have been warned of spam round here.

And if I am mistaken I am thankful for your advice and willingness to help. But am weary of people saying "pm me for me more info" as that is quite common on the internet and usually a crock. You can understand me I hope.

I certainly do understand. Feel free to disregard this, I'm pretty bored this evening. I was just offering to do a few mini reviews on the setups that are sitting right here beside me on the couch and why to avoid the things that are in the bottom of my vaping tackle box. lol. As far as I know, the links below aren't going to send you to some Middle Eastern Mail Order Bride website or any other spam you may imagine. I do most of my business with Mtbakervapor, but I have no affiliation with them in any way. Their juice is most reasonable and the best tasting I've found.

If I were to start over again today I would place an order right now for the follow.

Mtbaker Vapor juice of your choice

Ego Twist 900mah
Joyetech Ego Twist

2 x Smoktech DCT tank
SmokTech V2 Tank Kit

10 x Ikenvape Mega 801 Fusions

510 to 801 adapter
https://www.ikenvape.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ADPT

Mega carto
SmokTech Dual Coil Ego Cartomizer

Charger
Ego USB Charger with Car Adapter - Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes

That's right at $100 plus shipping for a really goofy-looking great performing setup with 100ML of juice. But some people hate cartomizers, if that's you this may be the worst $100 you've ever spent.
