Hey guys, first post, looking for some advice.

I'm an ex-smoker (quit cold turkey Sept 12, 2008 and never looked back). I haven't had any serious cravings I couldn't will-power through until now. My wife is a smoker (pack a day), and lately I have been under tremendous stress, both at work and at home. I found myself really wanting a cig for the last two months, and not being able to shake it.

Bottom line is, does anyone here think that getting an e-cig or something with no-nic juice would help? I don't think it's the nicotine that I'm craving since I have been nic free for 4 years...but my normal methods of dealing with stress and coping with cravings just aren't working. Maybe "giving in" to my cravings in a different way (e-cig) would help...

Thanks for the help guys.

first off congrats! must have been hard with the wife still smoking, my boyfriend still sneeks 1/2 a cig sometimes and how stinky! What I would do, is get a disposable with 0 nic this one is a penny, will save you $$. Good luck!http://www.apolloecigs.com/Free-Electronic-Cigarette-s/80.htm having a heck of a time making the link work lol

Funny you should ask this now. I just had a conversation with my wife about a friend of hers...we'll call him Bob :). Bob smokes about a pack a day and his wife (we'll call her Shirley) quite 14 years ago. Shirley has had the same cravings off and on (depending on stress level) for many years and it was especially difficult when she was around Bob when he was smoking.
So, Last week, my wife (we'll call her Tracy...'cause that's her name) introduce Bob to e-cigs. Bob got one and a bottle of snickerdoodle liquid (he liked Tracy's). Shirley tried it and immediately insisted on her own e-cig and bottle of juice (sorry, don't know the nic strength but I'd bet 6mg or 0mg). Says Bob - "Shirley is running around the house merrily vaping her snickerdoodle. She seems much more relaxed than before and is a lot more easy going."
If that ain't a testimonial, I don't know what is.

If you're looking for a no-nic replacement, I suggest getting a VV device so you can dial up the voltage to get a slightly better throat hit. (or else it will be like breathing in air). Along with your 0 nic juice, menthol can also help with providing a little throat hit.

Also to add... A higher PG ratio might also help.

Oh and another thing. If 0 nic doesnt work for you, just look into a 6mg or lower juice. I'm sure your going to want a little throat hit.

Hi there, let me say I'm THRILLED you came here iso buying a pack of analogs (term we use for regular cigs.)!!! I'd would'nt want to start you on a road you do not need to go down, but smoking analogs should no longer be an option as we & ecigs are out here to eliminate the old way - whatever it takes to not go back! Ask if you need help to choose an ecig, etc, there are so many ecig veterans willing to help & that's why we're all here too. Also, for many, it becomes a hobby as well with lots of different, interesting, ingeniously inventive ways such as DIY juices to making your own MODs, vaping has become a new frontier all its own.

Upon further contemplation, it may not be necessary to have much throat hit. The snickerdoodle, for instance, is a pretty darn mellow vape...I think it might be more about the action than the TH. Just a thunk.

Very possible he just needs that hand to mouth action. I was just putting some info out there for him.

Also, besides an eGo Twist, check out the eGo variable voltage passthrough (no battery, runs through a usb cable & can also run on mobile power packs), I get ours @litecigusa for under $13, I believe Vapor Kings sells them too. Depending on where you shop, you can even find coupons codes to use that saves more $, good story D.G, we're converting people too. We ourselves we're introduced by a cousins who bought one for their dad a few years back.

It's not the throat hit I'm craving, I think it's the relaxation I always used to associate with smoking. That and the flavor (I've always been partial to nicely flavored tobaccos, even though my regular was Players Light, I loved a good clove or menthol).

Thanks for all the advice and support already. Where can I find more info on a good started e-cig (preferably a re-usable one, sorry if my terminology sucks). Also, do I need to buy cartridges, or can I refill them? Can anyone point me to a basic FAQ and wiki on e-cigs?

Thanks guys!

Don DaBoom Vape (the guy that wrote the guide I linked above) has a great sense of humor and it's easy to read. Tons of good new-to-this-stuff info.
As for flavors...they is a ton of 'em. Lots of menthol and clove based flavors (including Triple Menthol from DeKang which has quite a kick). If you liked a mellow smoke (never had a Players but the term "light" caught my eye), you might consider DeKang's Desert Ship or SEC but always get a small bottle to try first (6ml to 10ml); good vendors are very quick at shipping and you will have plenty of time to order and get more after trying it.

yeah (in my opinion) all ya need is a disposable e-cig. since you'll very rarely need to use one. you should be able to find em in a walgreens or gas station/drug store near you. ocean state job lot has em by the registers and walmart have them as well. Or buy a usb charger kit if there is one available, they are around $20.

Not to knock the disposables...just a heads up that they do not produce much flavor or vapor. But, it may be all that you need and they are certainly cheap enough to try. If you find them lacking, however, don't give up and get a pack of analogs...try something a little bigger/badder...there is def something out there that will make you the "relaxed" man you want to be.
Another drawback to the disposables is their limited flavor selection. Small, near analog-sized e-cigs are available with a very low entry price that allow you to fill or refill the cartomizers (the part that holds the flavor/vapor-producing e-liquid) such as the Smokeless Image Volt.
