I've been lurking around the ECF forum since September, 2013, when I first started vaping. I finally decided to come out of the woodwork!

I tried e-cigs in March, 2011. At that time, they weren't very satisfying. I found a starter kit at a local convenience store and gave it a whirl. I was having surgery, and would be housebound for several days, and I wasn't allowed to smoke in my home. At least it was enough to get me through those first few days. But, once I was out and about again, I quickly returned to analog cigarettes.

I'm sure mine is a familiar story...I tried every means of quitting available, including cold turkey, practically since I started smoking in the first place. It was a dirty, stinky, lethal, and expensive habit. Before I tried e-cigs again, I was down from a two pack a day habit to about a half pack a day. But I could tell that I was starting to smoke more again.

I kept seeing information about e-cigs, and kept thinking about it. Then, BLU and other e-cigs started showing up at my local drug store. Every time I bought a pack of cigarettes, I felt like the e-cigs (and the nicotine replacement therapies) were calling to me. I think what finally tipped the scales was an article in PC Magazine that compared and reviewed several of the options. Next time I stopped at the drug store for cigarettes, I bought a BLU disposable. It was good enough that I went right back the next day and bought the starter kit! That was in September 2013, and I haven't smoked an analog cigarette since!

I'm not saying it took no willpower in those first couple weeks, but it took a heck of a lot less determination than any of the other methods I had tried. Now, I keep trying to convert my smoking co-workers, but so far, no luck. Even in the middle of the winter, when I dangle the fact that I'm smoking IN MY OFFICE, and don't have to go out in the freezing cold and snow to satisfy my nicotine habit.

I quickly graduated from BLU to tanks, and have gone through several e-liquids in search of the elusive menthol that suited me best. I had found one, Dr. K USA Menthol, but the store I bought it from didn't always have it available. The last time I was in there, he let me know that his supplier didn't have any more of that brand/flavor anymore, and I purchased every last bottle he had.

I tried Halo's menthol flavors, and one of them was okay, but not great. Then I tried Halo's unflavored juice. Now I exclusively smoke unflavored. I bought a liter bottle of 24mg unflavored (didn't want to deal with having to dilute it), and that will probably last me for years!

As for my setup, I tried manual batteries, and some of the larger tank/battery sizes, but I like the inconspicuous look of the cig-a-likes. I had problems with leaking on some, but for now, my favorite is the MigMax tank from MigCigs, paired with the Halo G6 automatic batteries. I like the power of the MigCig batteries, but they're just too long for me. I've taken both the Mig tanks and the G6 tanks on flights with me, and the G6 tanks leaked some. I think it's probably because they don't screw on like the Mig tanks do. The Migs flew without incident.

I love vaping! No smell, no bad taste, no discoloration of fingers, clothes, walls, my two-year old car still smells like it's brand new, even my non-smoking mother and my boyfriend can't tell when I'm vaping! When I get a cold, it doesn't hang on forever, and my coughing isn't nearly as bad as it was when I smoked. Eventually, I would like to go to 0mg nicotine and then stop vaping, but for now, I'm very happy!

in Australia we did not have these ads on TV (that I know of) I stumbled on this vaping business by looking for nicotine alternatives in desperation after trying patches (allergic to the adhesive on the patches would you believe? and then champix wow, I think I was almost homicidal...somehow I found ECF by googling other smoking alternatives (not sure if that was exact search) but it saved my life

Congrats on your journey! It sounds a lot like mine. After 39 years of smoking analogs I started vaping in november of 2013. I found that I fell off the wagon a few times because I tried to lower my nicotine level from my regular 18 mg too soon. Now after gradually lowering it, I am at 6 mg. And I am very satisfied..I wish I could get family and friends started on vaping full time!
I noticed being able taste and smell has really enhanced now. Its amazing lol
