Hi guys,

I'm very new to vaping ie. have been at it for 2 days now. My set up is an Innokin vv itaste express with an iclear 16 clearomizer.

I am using 18mg standard tobacco flavour PG/VG 70/30 which came with my start kit. Unfortunately the TH is just unpleasantly harsh for me - reminds me of being taught to inhale analogs at the tender age of 12 lol.

Anyways, I have done a lot of reading through forums etc trying to pin point the reason why the TH is too harsh for me and what I can do about it. I've even tried lowering the voltage right down.

Some ppl say u shud reduce the PG ratio, others say no it's the nicotine level that plays the main role, others say it's ur setup. Others even say you just need to break yourself in and get used to it.

My bro uses the same setup with no problems and i did smoke nearly 20 mayfair king size a day which aren't exactly for the weak throated.

I really don't want to revert back to analogues so am fully determined to find what works and have actually bought a DIY Kit but just wondering if any of you vapers out there have any advice on my initial vaping problem?

Thanks in advance!

Give a bit longer, you can be just getting use to vaping, same deal as when you started cigarettes...
Drink more fluids, make sure you bring the vapor into your mouth 1st, then inhale it. Exhale through your nose if possible (helps absorb the nicotine that way).

Haven't used that setup but can give some advice i regards to TH/ harshness.
Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG.
I smoked very strong analogs and began @ 36 mg nic. Now vaping 2 mg and really missed the TH. I upped my PG/ VG to 85/ 15 PG/ VG and now have TH although I know it's throat irritant.
Also now using low resistance 1.8 single coil delivery devices ( holds and vaporizes the juice) @ 4.2 volts to achieve a stronger hit. You may want to consider a higher ohms single coil.

Dehydration
I drink about 2 liters of water per day. REMEMBER to stay hydrated as vaping is extremely dehydrating. Both PG and VG are hydroscopic / humectants- they trap the moisture in our mouth, throat and nasal areas and thus the vapor.
Realize also some vapers are sensitive to high PG juice.
Proper Inhalation

At first you may also want to "french" inhale via the nasal passage to transfer the nicotine to yourself. Try also smaller vapes and more frequency.
Best of Luck.

Since you are using a "reasonable" level nicotine (meaning it's not exceptionally high) and the PG/VG ratio you are using is also considered the "standard", then it's not really likely that those things are the problem. You could try dropping your nicotine down a bit to maybe 16 or 12. Some have found that helps. First thought is that it's just "new vaper syndrome" and you are just getting used to how to inhale vapor. It's not the same as smoking. For one thing...a slower, more gentle draw is best rather than a hard short hit. What ohm level is your atomizer now, and what voltages have you tried? It could help to lower the voltage, but then...you have to look at the flavor you are using, too. Something with menthol or koolada in it is going to have a much harsher TH than a straight fruit or dessert or even a tobacco flavor.

Try easing down on the nicotine and practice your inhaling technique. Go easy and draw slow. My husband had the same trouble, and for him, it was lowering the nicotine that helped him the most. He started at 24 but coughed every time he took a drag. So he switched to 18mg and did much better. Within a couple of months he'd dropped to 12mg. and is doing very well now.
