First, hello to all...
I have only tried a disposable Krave 500 and burnt it up in an evening, but I know I'm going to love some serious vapor. Late this week or early next week I should have a Modern Vapor 902 starter kit, Blu starter kit (I know.. shhh...), and Johnson Creek Red Oak sampler kit. Am I missing anything that I might need, and how long do you think that will last me? I seriously want to get tobacco out of my house. This forum has been awesome help. If there is anything I should get please let me know. Thanks!

Welcome to ECF!

I'm a noob too, vaping just a short time. I have two recommendations:

1) Have several devices and lots of spare atomizers/cartomizers. If you're serious about quitting analogs, you need to make sure you can vape no matter what happens or you'll go buy a pack of cigs. I highly recommend a Joye 510 pass through because it will work no matter what.....it's very dependable....I like the 5V version from madvapes.com.

2) Find a juice that you love. That's 90% of the battle! You gotta love the taste and nicotine you get out of your juice. Buy a lot of small bottles to get started. Once you find the one(s) you like, buy a big bottle so you're set. I really like backwoodsbrew.net.

Good Luck!

The Blu is the same as the Volcano. If you like your Blu you might want to check out the volcano from Volcano Fine Electronic Cigarette...home of the best eCig there volcano atomizers( not the Magma atomizers) will fit the Blu, are slightly less expensive, and you will receive them in 2- 5 days as opposed to 2- 3 weeks if you order from Blu. I would also buy 30ml of American juice from one of the forum suppliers. Buy a variety of flavors and nic levels to bring you up to a total of 30ml. I would probably recommend 6 5ml bottles if your chosen supplier sales 5ml bottles.

Thank you. I didn't know it was the same as the volcano. I had already decided not to order from Blu again. They were out of a few things, so it took 6 days just to process my order. I waited a week after ordering Blu to order the MV902 and Red Oak juice, but they will be here at the same time or before. I'm not a patient person, can't handle that. Buying their refills would be way too expensive also.

You'll get plenty of recommendations on vendors here, and all of them good ones. We all have our favorites for supplies and juices. My experience with the vendors I like has been fantastic! My orders are usually processed the same day unless I order on a weekend or late at night, then it's normally the next business day. The longest I've had to wait for something to ship is 4 days, and that's because I ordered really late on a Saturday night.

Wait till your stuff gets in and try it out. Which ever one you like better, source some spare parts for it. If you didn't order at least 30 ml of juice total in those sampler packs you might want to get more samplers. Most people seem to average around 3-5 ml a day usage. The sampler in my first order totalled 15 ml so I was able to figure that out and get more on the way before my new PV even arrived. Get mix of nic strengths so you're not stuck with a huge quantity of something that's either too strong or too weak. Once you get going, you'll quickly figure out what you need to reorder.

Good call on the "Blu Back-Out" lol!!! I ordered the 510's plus extra batteries, atomizors, and carts. I also ordered e-juice from another supplier but found that I quickly was running low so I stocked up on extra juice. It normally takes about a week from the time I place my order until I recieve the juice, so you might want to make sure you're covered just in case. I've been vaping for nearly a month now and I tend to "chain-vape", so I would say that I use 3 ml of juice a day. Does that seem like alot??

The more I read it seems the average is 2 mL a day for an experienced "vaporer" but more when you first start. I think I have 21 mL coming in my sample pack and with what is included in the 2 starter kits it is most likely over 30 mL. I'm going to order a couple of more flavors and strengths just to be sure and start searching for the atty's and carts for the Blu. I won't order any until I know for sure if the I'm going to keep the Blu or not. Wish my stuff was here already! So impatient!

The Volcano battery I bought in a starter kit lasted about 45 minutes the first few days, then it started lasting 30 minutes, and then 20 minutes (less than two weeks after I bought it). At that point, I was like everyone else and bought two eGos and two passthroughs and gave up on Volcano and the other starter kit (a different brand) that I had bought. Both turned out to be worthless (but they got me started with vaping, so I'm not complaining, except their prices are three times higher than the better stuff that everyone ends up buying to replace the crap they bought to begin with).

I go through about 5 mL of liquid per day, but I vape most of the time.

I've been vaping since June and have found that I average about 2-3ml/day. A heavy day I might go up to 5 but it's rare.

@BadThad & Heartbskts - what part of Ohio are you guys from. I'm in the Akron area. I've only seen one other vaper since I started and didn't get a chance to talk to him. It seems like there aren't too many of us around here. You might consider joining the social group here Ohio Vapers too.

Some juices improve with a little age. I'm not sure if JC custom mixes for each order. Their website should tell you that. If they don't, the juice has probably sat a little while and is good to go. I've never aged my juice with the cap off and the flavors seem to blend just fine. Juice is good for quite a while but it is perishable, so keep that in mind. Also, it is fine to vape whether it has aged or not. It might just taste a little better.

A lot of folks on this foum (me included) still smoke despite vaping. We just smoke a whole lot less. I couldn't imagine doing that with the gum or the patch. I've read posts from folks that either ran out of juice or had equipment failures and smoked while anxiously waiting for the postman. The most common reaction I saw was how horrible real cigs tasted and how easy it was to throw the cigs away when they could vape again. I certainly recommend having backups and avoiding that kind of situation, but I don't think it's as big a deal with vaping as it is with other smoking cessation methods.

Whatever you buy is enough to start, (I'm also a noobie) you need to
find what works for you. Lots of good advice on this forum, but
everyones needs are different.
I have a 401 kit which was my first purchase (cheap and before
I found this forum) and still works very well for a quick vape driving
to work. I also have a 801 with a pass thru, which I find great as
I can plug it in (no battery worries) and it has big cartridges so I
don't have to keep refilling. My setup suits me, but I still look at
new and different setups (like a kid in a candy store), guess it's part
of my additive personality. ;-)
I'm still expermenting with flavors (Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid 208-635-5564) has
a sample pack of 10-3ml Bottles for $15 and good customer service.

Best thing is being OFF ANALOGS!!! and losing my hacking cough.
