I envey you runners, I'm not able to due to bad circulation in these old legs. However, I have been doing water exercises for i hr. twice a week. By the time I got home and had dinner, I was so tired that I always fell asleep in my chair for the first 4 years. 2 years ago I started vaping and now I never sleep in the chair...not tired a bit when I get home; in fact after the holiday's I will increase the excercises to 4 times a week. Because of the increase in lung capacity, I'm now able to swim under water the length of the pool (25 yds)...could never do that 4 years ago! By the way, the pool is indoor...swim all year around. Think I'll move my bed to the water!!! LOL I'm one of these old clowns that smoked almost all of my life (age 80) Good grief, why in the hell am I still alive???

That's some good stuff there rver, I just got my 83yr old mother to quit the cigarettes about 2 months ago and now shes vaping, I've noticed a change in her with a few things energy wise and even mind wise and though she is in super shape for 83 she seems to have improved even more now since quitting the stinky cigs, she golfs twice a week and breaks 100 and it's just incredible to watch.

Im actually a cert personal trainer and I vape. Was not a heavy smoker since I made the decision to train but I enjoyed a smoke or two here and there while drinking and started smoking analogs sober. Such a vicious cycle! But I mainly lift heavy and avoid cardio just to preserve mass gains. I would not recommend it to clients but Ive actually noticed a better overall better well being while off analogs. Also I will start cardio for that spring cut to shed winter bulk up..

There is an old man I know who I see regularly at local races. He's such a jovial old fellow and I make it a point to seek him out and talk to him whenever I can. He's 78. He once told me "you don't quit running because you get old, you get old because you quit running".

I spect running isn't for everyone, but there are many ways to exercise. With the new year upon us, I'd encourage everyone to take up some type of exercise. The .......quitting smoking to vape change can be the start of something bigger. Remember obesity, inactivity and atrophy can kill us early just as well as lung cancer or emphesema.

I just saw a report on the news this week saying that there is no need for our bodies to "age" in the tradational way as long as week exercise regularly!

I agree with eleanor ...life causes death and no matter how healthy you are you can still drop dead of a heart attack ,stroke ,and get cancer ,i've seen enough 100% "healthy lifestyle " people expire way too young to think i can guarantee a long life .
Ive also seen people drink ,smoke and party live a very long life .

There are always going to be exceptions to any rule. Keith Richards comes to mind. But overall, you are much better keeping in shape to live longer. And exercising makes the RIGHT NOW better as well.

I normally run 2+ miles at least every other day if not everyday, or ruck march with at least a 35lb pack or doing cross fit style exercise (lots of cardio strength type exercises.) before I started with my PV I would feel a burning sensation in my lungs with anything really strenuous, black spots in my vision, light headedness etc. while ruck marching my legs would burn and I would be very short of breath on the uphills, darn hills..., cross fit style workouts... Man it was all I could do to catch my breath or not throw up and ive been doin this military thing for 13 years.

Now after 6 months with my trusty Reo or VV box I no longer have burning lungs, ruck marches are so much easier when you can breath and feel your legs, and, while I still feel like I'm gonna die from crossfit, I CAN breath easier. Oh and no black spots around the edges of my vision after or during a death run (1-2 mile dead sprint run, slow down till you catch your breath a bit and sprint again) makes my life a lot easier. Hills are still a PITA though, stupid hills.

No doubt. They kill me. It's completely flat where I live. When I go visit friends in CA or family in southern OH and run, I just about die from the hills.

It hurts while you run or later, after you run? And where - lungs? shins? knees? stitch in your side? I know, a lot of questions but some of these can be solved.

I was over exaggerating a tiny tiny bit, but that was my first run back since quitting the analogs and the first mile was stitch in side, lungs slightly burning. Then it all subsided and the last mile went easier. Just out of shape.
