Hello all,

As has been mentioned by many, and explained elsewhere by Michelle, it was not possible to import existing passwords into the new system - I believe this is due to encryption.

Your accounts are all still in the database, you just need to reset the password via the "forgotten your password" system.

Enter your registration email into the box and your new password will be sent there. You can then change it via the User Control Panel.

For bug reporting, please see the separate thread.

Sorry for any inconvenience as I get this sorted!

Absolutely no problem there SJ as far as I'm concerned. frankly I think we all need to put our hands together (and in our pockets) and thank you for this wonderful space you have created for us all to exist in and share our collective knowledge and experiences

My hat is off to you and the cheque is in the mail (paypal) :)

Ditto what MNZ said. You did a great job getting this up and running. What's a few tech glitches anyway? really when you look at all the glitches in these e-cig products, a few minor bugs in a forum are nothing!!

Great forum and THANK YOU for all the work you've done to set up this space for all of us to meet each other and discuss our favorite past time!!

Unfortunately, being new to the forum I missed the changes.

When I found the site down last night I just thought there was a glitch and it would be back up in no time.

I nearly had an attack of the "vapours" when I discovered it was still "down" tonight...then...my son (clever lad - who is another new member - Snakeling) looked at me with pity and shaking his head at me (as only offspring can do) solved the problem :)

Site looks really great. Well done :) :)

Thanks for your kind words. I will continue to improve the forum and install new and exiting features over the next few weeks.

Again, if you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to PM me with them or post them in the main thread.

SJ

And thank you for your donations, they really help to cover the costs.

SJ

well, there's no encryption, only hashing. about every forum i know uses MD5, but there may be some that use SHA1.. but it still surprises me that this is an issue here.

well, at least and finally, I'm on the board again, thanks to RatInDaHat and Somkey

EDIT:
oha.. vbulletin seems to use a weird way of hashing the passes..
MD5(MD5($password).$salt)
only reason for this i can think of is that it uses the hashes as unique keys.. the security is not incrased

Thanks :)

well, this was too short for vbulletin, so here's some random text: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer sadipscing elitr, sed diam nonumy eirmod tempor invidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliquyam erat, sed diam voluptua. At vero eos et accusam et justo duo dolores et ea rebum. Stet clita kasd gubergren, no sea takimata sanctus est Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.

I thought a non-tech-savvy person would understand "encryption" more easily than "hashing". Which is the point actually, to make people understand why this happened, not show off our knowledge :p

This is a great site Jo.

Is there any way of addding a speell chek whene you add a new posst.(oops)
Just wondered why why when you go to a post you start nearly at the end rather than at the beginning.

Don't know if this will help but I find if I click the title link of a post it starts at the first post when it comes up, if I click the little arrow beside it , what comes up starts from the post after the last one I read on that thread. The arrow goes to the end posts I haven't read yet and the title link to the first post.

you can go into your cp and configure your lay-out. this is the option by default. i prefer it the other way too. you can also change how many posts per page are listed. i chose the max..keeps the clicking finger smiling. also try out the black-and blue theme if you havent, a little easier on the eyes i find.
