Have any of you tried to help friends quit analogs and switch to vaping?

I have several friends at work who smoke analogs. Many of them are interested in quitting and they haven't had much luck yet.

Most of them are female and when I talk to them about vaping it seems that it is too complicated or involves too many choices and just buying a pack of smokes is easier.

I tried explaining the different PV's, juices and what PG and VG are, why a variable voltage ego c twist is a good starter and such.

I did get one guy interested enough that he wanted more info so I sent him a link to this amazing place and some online vendors.

Another guy at work, the only one I know who vapes has those NJoy things. I showed him my ego c twist and kanger t3s setup and he said, "don't those cost like $100?". I told him how cheap a setup like mine was. He still seemed uninterested.

Is there a good way to help those who want to quit analogs make the switch the vaping? I would love to convert as many people as I can.

I have two friends on Facebook who helped convert me. I never knew anything about vaping besides those Blu e cigs and NJoys that you see at gas stations until my friends posted about real e cigs and vaping.

My Golden Rule...

If they have an interest - play "show & tell" - if they don't, leave 'em alone... until they do have an interest.

I agree with this statement.

When a friend of mine from work showed interest in vaping I went home on my lunch break and grabbed a cig-a-like battery, a pcc, and some cartomizers I had already filled. It was a Friday and I told him to have his way with them over the weekend. It worked out great. He ordered his own starter kit and is now a full time vaper.

If you have something that you can let them borrow and use while nobody else is watching, I think that helps. They can do their own thing at their own pace without anybody throwing a bunch of information at them.

Same thing goes with shooting...

Invite them to enjoy your hobby...start them off "small" when they realize they DO like it...let em play with something with some oomph

(see how much in common the "vaping community" and "shooting community" have in common)

The analogy of "start 'em with a nicely balanced and accurate .22... before you hand them the Barrett 82" comes to mind. ;-)

Thanks for the replies.

7.62 is awesome. I have a Russian Dragunov Tiger that shoots 7.62x54R

I was thinking Mosin Nagant (the russian man cannon) with steel .... pad...but your analogy is much much cooler!!! :D
Although this was quite a good time ago, ah... around 1988/9, I have made the mistake (or not) of letting a guy who had very little rifle experience, let alone bigass rifle experience, shoot a Barrett 82A1. He had been shooting a very nice S&W M41 5.5" at the time, so he did have an accurate, well balanced .22. :p

Thankfully, he dropped the rifle back on the grass before he jumped up, stepped back several feet, threw his hands in the air, knocked another gentleman's benchrest rifle off it's rests... all the while yelling MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF! MF!....

Amazingly, having never quite gotten over the experience - I sold the Barrett to this same gentleman a year later. ;-)

agree! a lot of the vaping information can be very confusing, and i can definitely see people saying screw this, its easy to buy a pack of cigarettes.
i started with just a little ego and a lot of research.
i realized too at least for me personally, i had to WANT to quit smoking, and "embrace" vaping.

I'm kind of a forum junkie and I'm always researching information on various things. I guess not everyone is into that. I think no matter what it is, if you are interested in something, its good to do research and talk to real people about their experiences.

I'm having an awesome vaping experience because of this place and all the wonderful people on here.
