I was merely emphasizing the idea of information over!oad. And that is why I think you missed my point.
full

It was a lot to read but not an overload. I'm a newbie so I definitely can use all the info I can get. Thanks again :)

:) Keep asking questions, sister - and keep coming back - you are in the right place (even if it does get a tad bit frenetic at times)

I think you will dig that ego AIO - great little device (my wife loves hers) - very user friendly and very decent performance :) (and they light up - who doesn't like that?)

By quoting Grace's reply as some sort of vindication you confirm to me that you do not see the Big Picture. Let's say 100 people come in, similarly unknown to us, but obviously fairly new to vaping. If 2/3 of them find the information useful but 1/3 walk away from the thread totally confused and overloaded I don't think that would be an optimum outcome. And as a long time tech support guy, I think I have a fair handle on the average ability of the average person to absorb things like this.

I'm out of this discussion now. This is not a matter of agreeing or disagreeing but my failing to get my point across, despite any protestations to the contrary.

I've been advising new vapers on this forum for five years. I average about ten personal messages a week from members asking for MORE information. I worked in a vape shop for one year. I think I have a fair handle on the average ability of the average person to absorb things like this, too.

So we agree to disagree. I'll sleep well tonight.

I agree that new vapers need info but I also the other person's point.

I've seen a few times where a new vaper comes here and asks about something like changing their coil on a Nautilus Mini that's on an iStick and next thing you know people are trying to explain ohm's law to them.

I think mech mods are not for newbies and vape shops should never sell these things to a new vaper looking to quit smoking. As a matter of fact, I see no point in mech mods at all but that's a whole other argument.

Regulated mods or all in ones running coils .5 ohm and up are about as safe as you'll get vaping and new users should be made aware of this instead of trying to explain ohm's law and CDR to them.

Carry on.

Normally when I see a post that's too long, incoherent, poorly structured or just a wall of text I just TLDR and skip to the ones that are to the point. We are all just trying to help in ways we find fit.

The forum itself is an overload of information and its up to the reader to filter what's important.

I do actually have the eGo-C Twist for now.
Ego's are relatively safe, mainly because they have a limited power output which means they can't fire a tank using sub-ohm coils. They have some short circuit protection built into the regulator. Most of the issues with an eGo is with charging. Rarely you'll read about a eGo battery which was being charged, flying across the room like a fire cracker. Also, eGo batteries are LiPo chemistry, meaning that they are not "safer chemistry" like IMR or INR batteries. LiPo batteries are quite volatile (flames and explosions) when they go into thermal runaway.

I suggest using only the ego charger recommended by the manufacturer. Don't use a cell phone charger. Charge your battery on a flame-resistant surface like a stove top, metal baking pan, marble countertop, etc.

Good Starter Setups for a Beginner Vaper
  • Typical starter setups recommended for a new vaper. Includes a video on the use of an eGo variable voltage battery/clearomizer and of the iStick and MVP mods.

What is the likelihood of your vape EXPLODING? The thought is always in the back of my mind and it's pretty terrifying. Has it ever happened to you? Would it happen during charging or in my face , while vaping?

    Thanks,
    Grace

If you owned a powerful 600+ HP car you would know you need to point it in the right direction before you plant your foot in to the firewall and have all :censored: break loose. Same thing for battery held devices of any kind. You have to have some respect for them and what they can do.

I've watched videos on thermal runaway on YouTube and I'm aware of the situation. I hope that if anything happens, I'll be paying attention, and just remove the batteries from the device, clean the device up, and dispose of the batteries properly.

I have been vaping since Sept, 2015, vape all day nonstop, and have some of the same batteries that I had back then. All 16 of my batteries are LG and Sony. Never had any issues with any of them and I charge them externally in a Nitecore i4 charger.

Am I worried? NO. I think I'm prepared, well educated, and vape on. :thumb:
