Express Shipping too expensive..

Well I just checked the Fed Ex site, and for shipping a 1lb box with a value of $100 from Chicago to Florida (my home) Fed Ex Standard Overnight is $41.94, if shipped now it would arrive tomorrow afternoon. The two day choice would arrive Monday evening for $20.83.
If V4L could ship enough product with the likes of UPS or FedEx they could get a special contract rate that would be cheap in comparison but that would require a lot of shipping to get to that point.
The cost of the express shipping seems to make more sense if a) you really really needed it in a hurry and b) it was one really big order.
USPS has not been that bad.

if you get your order in in the next few hours use the coupon code "smilin" and request a free upgrade to express shipping in the comment section on an order over $150 you will recieve ten percent off and the free upgrade i believe that goes through noon today
After christmas everything will go back to normal and your packages will take 2-4 days to get there!!Until then,be patient and have a wonderful holiday!!

I believe it was stated that all Christmas specials will end after Christmas. There may be a few carto's still on special for 9.95, but those will be the ones that are general specials, not Christmas specials (which seems to be damn near everything on the site)
But then V4L would NOT be able to ship to military folks stationed overseas. I believe that both UPS and FedEx require exclusivity to give those special rates, and APO's are serviced by the USPS.

Express shipping is expensive, but it's an option they added for the people who want it, you can still use regular priority mail.
I hope Steve does add first class mail to the system after xmas like we suggested in another thread, that would be great for the times when we just need some carts.
