So I've just bought this - Amazon.com: Anker® Astro3 10000mAh Dual 2A USB Output External Battery Backup and Charger for iPhone 4S / 4 / 3GS, iPod, iPad, iPad 2, the New iPad (iPad 3); Most Android Phones (Samsung Galaxy S / S2 / S3, HTC One X One S Sensation EVO, Motorola Dro

It's an external USB battery charger to charge my eGo's when I go camping next month. It arrived today and it's now fully charged and ready to be tested. However, it has a little switch on the side saying 9v and 12v, which one do I switch it to to charge my eGo or doesn't it matter?

I've quickly tested both and the charging light comes on on my eGo USB charger when I plug it in to the external battery so they both seem to work, however, I don't want to brake anything and need to know whether it's 9v or 12v I should switch it to?

The output of both USB's on it are 5v.

Thanks.

Side note. Anker is good stuff. I bought a 2pk of batteries and a wall wart charger for my HTC EVO, and they're doing great. Slightly higher MAH while still being the slim battery form factor. The wall charger can take A/C from the wall, or D/C from a USB cable. While plugged into the wall, it also has a USB port to charge an additional item. I often use it to charge my eGo batteries as well.

Heh, sorry to minor thread jack, but wanted to comment on the quality of the manufacturer. :)

That's good to hear :)
I was torn between Anker and this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Trent-S...TF8&coliid=I1S8Z02MGI19HX&colid=2AKLWXZ9U7WTY
I went for Anker in the end as it haS 2 USB ports, instead of just the 1. The more eGo's I can charge whilst camping the better :D

I've considered a battery pack like that for various reasons in the past. But until I go on any kind of vacation where my power access is limited, I think I'll pass for now. I do need to invest in a 2nd eGo charger I think. I've been known to forget it at home a few times when going to work. Thankfully I have 3 eGo batteries, so at least one is almost always fully charged. Tho I got my first APV last week in a contest ... liking it a lot more of late, so going to have to invest in some batteries and a good charger.

Thanks a lot for the heads up on that thing. I was wondering about something like that.

I've got me and potentially another vaper coming to dragoncon in a few weeks. We both use egos at the moment, so that helps, but I'm not aware of a PCC for the twists or big normal egos, and we'd need a place to charge if we don't end up getting a last-minute hotel room. Being tied to a wall outlet would suck.

Also…completely OT and ignore me if this is inappropriate. But, I'm not a forum n00b. And there seem to be a lot more girls on here than on the others I'm active on. Just a weird observation.

Also, I just looked more closely at those things. The USB connectsions are 5V at 2A (total), which is what we all said. The 9V/12V switch affects other DC out jacks and are used to charge things like cameras that have their own chargers and don't run/charge off USB.

A reviewer wrote:
"The unit has three output ports to charge items. There are two USB ports rated at 5 V DC at 2.1 Amperes. There is also a DC voltage output plug rated for either 9 V or 12 V DC at 2 Amperes."

The 9v/12v switch only determines the output voltage of the DC voltage output jack.
Both USB ports are 5 volts and are not effected by the switch position.

Dunno. I've just got my twists and am using usb to charge them, I don't need (Read: "can't justify to hubby") a PCC right now. The twists are just to play with right now.

Atlsmoke write-up says
"The eGo Personal Charger Casing (PCC), has a 2000mAh battery that can charge a 650 eGo battery 3 times and a 900 and 1000 battery 2 times.
It comes with an empty 10ml bottle and a USB cable for charging."

Litecigusa says
"This is compatible with the 650mAh, 900mAh, 1000mAh and USB 650mAh batteries.
It may also be compatible with various clones of the JoyeTech eGo butwe do not garuntee it to work with these."

They look exactly the same to me from the pics on the sites.

Google "ego pcc" and you'll get more options.

Hope that helps. Hugs ~ Princess

Well, the 650mAh twist is supposed to be the same size as the 1000mAh regular ego, so it might work. I'll look into it. Thanks.

I think that something like the amazon link would be more useful overall, though. I could also charge my phone, camera, and a bunch of other stuff. Plus my other PVs. And there might be a charger for bigger IMR mod batts that work off it's DC outputs.
