I noticed that a few of my Dealextreme 10440's have a little wiggle room inside when everything is screwed down. I didn't have an extra O-ring on hand so I made one out of thin, soft plastic and placed it directly above the existing O-ring. This took care of the wiggle, a tad tight to close but I don't see any crimping around the PCB or button top, I imagine an actual O-ring would give more slack. I don't know for sure if it's improved anything, it seems like it so far, but I just swapped the battery too. Some play between the battery and posts shouldn't matter the way the mechanical button works, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe someone else who thinks they're having issues with the imprecise Dealextreme batteries can try also and report back.

Ok, I've come to find personally that this isn't helping or hurting anything. Pretty much sure now that I'm just getting used to these small batteries, I didn't realize that there would be such a big drop at around 3.6v, then practically nothing after 3.5v. I'm used to my 14500 or 18650 which still perform great in that range. Every time I ran into a problem, checked the voltage, assumed the problem was elsewhere, and was failing to realize this power drop-off in the batteries.

How long are these batteries lasting you before the they won't hold much of a good charge anymore... as in not total vaping time, but how many days or weeks before they start holding less of a charge? I have a lot of them, but I can't see any kind of pattern and I don't have anything to measure voltages and etc with. Many times I thought it was my charger not working, but now I own 3 different kinds of chargers and I can't figure it out.

I need to try the noalox idea... I've noticed sometimes I think my batteries are already drained, but if I push the button pretty hard then they work decent. Might also explain the extremely quick recharge time of the batteries.

Personally, i haven't run across any protected 10440's that were too short, however, that doesn't mean there aren't some out there! I have seen some batteries that claimed to be protected and were actually missing the protection circuit and thus were short.

I wouldn't recommend running an extra o-ring, for the cost of the batteries, if i came across a couple that were too short, i'd just chuck em or use them in some other application if i had a use for them. Adding an extra oring would also throw of the button throw distance. But hell, if you don't mind and it works for you then all is good!
