Extraction Addiction

I am new to extraction however I have read a lot of thorough forums. I am currently extracting cinnamon, vanilla bourbon bean, coffee and caramel cookies with VG. I am about to also do a hot chocolate extraction in a few minutes, too. Now, before you lay into me about the cookies, let me just say I cannot find anything regarding solids or the like (whipped cream, custard and other 'foods'). I am aware that one should not smoke oil or oils even in trace amounts as will most likely be found in my cookie extraction. BUT, it's an experiment. I am also aware that 180+ proof alcohol amd PG can be used for extraction and that sugar is no bueno.

So, I'd like to get a discussion going about how to extract foods, that is, if it's even possible. There is a way that these companies are extracting flavors such as 'cookies and cream' and I would love to learn how. I'm sure they're also using fancy equipment but surely where there is a will, there is a way. Surely someone here knows how it is done and how the average vaping enthusiast can do it!

So far, the cinnamon turned out great! Kinda like cinnamon honey. Vanilla is so-so but could be the fact I only steeped for 2 weeks. Even in it's so so state, it's still great when using to cut other juices without losing flavor (vs. straight VG).

to ecf Chasingheather. Nice to meet you and so glad you are here. I find extractions very interesting as well. But have gotten pretty lazy lately with experimenting. I have liked some of the simple things I have done like vanilla beans in Vodka. Added to a formula it is really good. There are so many threads on this. Extractions using teas and coffees and cigars even. The main thing is just to have fun and read. I look forward to reading your posts and learning. That is why ecf is such a wonderful place to be. Learning and helping others. Mostly it is like a family. So make yourself at home.

I don't think they are actually extracting flavors like cookies and cream,i would guess these to be artificial flavors. As for the cinnamon and vanilla,i've heard of a few people doing these,i definitely plan on doing them myself at some point,i love both of those flavors haha.

Yesh, the cookies and cream style flavors are all labeled with 'artificial flavors' for the most part maybe with some natural base flavors. Capella flavors label all of their flavors with 'Natural Flavors,' 'Artificial Flavors,' or both so that can give you a good idea of which flavors will work. However, I will be very interested to see how your food extractions go.

Currently, I only do vanilla extracts and NET for my DIY juice but am planning a trip to a Savory Spice Shop near me. I do it in PG with 1 cap full of vodka per 80mL PG to help the extraction process. Then I let it sit for two months, shaking 3-4 times per week. It comes out fantastics, especially paired with some Capella Vanilla Custard. Mmmmmmmm!

I put two cinnamon sticks in VG, one batch for less than a day and it came out great. It tasted more like a cinnamon honey but definitely vapable on its own.
My next batch has been steeping for 2 days now so I'm expecting a stronger cinnamon flavor.

What is 'NET'? I love me some custard. Baked Vapor Fruit custard comes to mind. yumm. I'm going to order some nic and there is a seller on amazon who sells 10 lor ann flavors for $15. I'm getting:

Apricot
Bavarian Cream
Caramel
Cheesecake
Coconut
Egg Nog
Marshmallow
Orange Cream
Praline Cream
Vanilla Butternut

Should be interesting mixing these. I'm still looking for more info on DIY extraction from solids so if y'all run across some post the links here - I can't find any.

I'm also making custom box mods to sell in some local shops. Would like to eventually start selling juice if I can get enough knowledge under my belt.

As b.m. said it's Naturally Extracted Tobacco. Same process, you just use pipe tobacco or roll your own tobacco. If you've ever had juices like Nicoticket's 'The Virus' you know they can be fantastic with other flavors or alone.

Don't expect it to taste like cigarettes did though. Tobacco on it's own has a very sweet, bold, and unique taste and each different blend has it's own unique properties. You will have to catch up on 'Cold Maceration' and 'Hot Maceration' techniques. Cold maceration is just your basic extraction though and by far the least labor intensive, but produces the most natural undertones from the tobacco. Hot Maceration produces a more bold, in your face tobacco flavor that doesn't have the complexity or lightness cold maceration does. It's up to you what you'd like more!

For me the Lorann flavors have been a disappointment. But I am new and it could just be my technique. I have some old vanilla bean extract that I didn't like previously. I am going to go home and try it with a little capella sweet dream. Cullin do you notice that your Vanilla extract has that similarburnt aftertaste like coffee extract?

And i filtered through unbleached coffee filters and then through a syringe with cotton.

Well, my hot chocolate extract failed. It tasted like semi choco going in, and tobacco going out. However, the hint of a slight burnt taste rang some bells. Toss out. My cookies extract failed. Not a bad flavor, but more so just no flavor. Toss out. My cinna, vanilla and coffee extracts are all good, as expected and tested.

So you could make some fresh made custard and soak it in alcohol and make an extract ? just like cookies ? and then vape it ?
sarcasm?

Well for one your doing the same thing that mccormick does by stripping the oils from the bean or leaf which when you try to mix with the PG / VG it doesn't you would have to constantly shake before vape or steep for a month .:Food Extracts | McCormick

The chemist use chemicals to brake down or create a flavor: https://www.osha.gov/dts/shib/shib10142010.html
