So I bought a pack of smokes last night. The problem is vaping is not conducive to extreme heat/cold. Here in the NE US the summers can get up to 110 degrees with the heat index, and the winter days like today can get down to 3 degrees with the wind chill. My RTAs flood and my juice gets too cold to drip. I have to walk off the campus of my job just to vape/smoke. It's about 12 hours from the time I leave for work and return in the evening. So what's a desperate nic addict supposed to do?

Do you use a high VG liquid? They can get a little stiff in cold weather.

If you're tolerant of PG, use a liquid with that base instead.

To counter cold weather, settings do need to go up a bit at first. Outside, I'm usually at 6W until my device warms, then back down to my normal 4.6W (no comments from the peanut gallery, I vape at the extreme low end!) Play around with it a bit until you find what works for you.

In hot weather, I just suffer. :)

I live in NY, we just had the same weather as you did. I had no issues at all with my gear. IPV D2 with Billow V2 tank. 80/20 VG PG juice. I think you may want to look at different gear for the weather, still gotta be cheaper than smoking for you.

I live in Saskatchewan... I'm pretty sure I can beat most of you for cold weather. I've had mine out in -30C (-50 with the wind) temps and the worst that's happened is some juice gets into the base, but not enough to cause a problem. You just gotta clean it out next refill. It's mostly been protank 2's, 3's and nautilus'. My subtank mini and isub g seem to be holding up fine as well, though it's the first winter with them and it's been unusually mild as far as winters here go. Juice is usually 70% VG or higher.
Only precautions I really take are to make sure you take a puff every 10 minutes or so, helps keep it warm and I usually store it in a pants pocket or somewhere near my body heat.

    Lol.... I'm up in Canadada...

    There's plenty of options....
I keep my Subtank mini in my inside jacket pocket and turn it down about 5 watts, it allows to the juice to warm up a bit more so it gets absorbed into the cotton. Is it ideal? nope.. does it work yep, does it keep me off cigs? yep...

Another option is heating coils 24/26 Clapton around 35w would heat a tank right up, probably not the best vape but would work.

Simple setup High PG, High Nic Juice to curve your cravings...

You need to adapt to conditions if it's something you want to do, dripping in the winter simply doesn't work well... I'd do anything to stay away from tobacco...

Oh the joys of living in Canada and I live in Southern Ontario where it's downright balmy compared to where you live Maiar. I know I spent a few years just north of you on Hwy 6 in Raymore.
Last winter my biggest problem was leaving juice and batteries in the car overnight. I have since acquired a lot more stock of everything so it shouldn't be a problem this winter.

I live in Florida, where as we all know, it's quite warm, most of the time. Last week I had to travel north, to upstate N.Y., where I spent the entire week.
My normal vape gear is a Reo, which is a bottom feeder that feeds a modified RDA, which is fed by an onboard juice bottle inside the mod. My usual DIY juice ratio is 70VG/30PG. I had no problems, in outside temps as low as 7 degrees.
I always carry my mod in my pocket, when I'm not using it, and never leave mods or batteries outside, or in a car.

Wonders if we live in the same Maryland
Unregulated warehouse worked until I was retired.
Kept my equipment in my lunch container as did the rest of us Vapers there, about 25 when I left.
Kept an Ego-mini(450)/Smok Shorty Carto and 70/30 higher Nic for emergency use, tucked in my pocket or near by.

Smoked med/heavy for 45+yrs. and haven't touched one since switching.

    * did you know 80/20 inhaled and held for say, 30 seconds, produces no vapor.;)

First rule of fight club (vaping in upstate NY):

When not in use, turn your mod/tank upside down, keeping the juice off of the coils intake. Changes in temp causes changes in internal tank pressure. This pushes juice into the coil.

If you invert your device, the changes in pressure equalize without pushing any juice into the coil.

How about a bottom feeder. Would think if you kept it in a warm enough pocket you have a dripper with a tank.

I know the BF solves the summer time tank leakage issues. Haven't had any leakage since I got my Reo clone or the owl before that.
Doesn't get real cold here, but I would think something like the Billet Box would do good in cold. Because the coil is inside the tank which is inside the mod.

I use a few tanks with (70/30) snow skiing in Colorado to British Columbia, almost 13,000 ft @ 15 below and never had problems (flooding) with pressure, of course I don't keep them exposed to the air while not in use, and have never gotten my juice so cold I couldn't drip it.

They make these things called (carhartt) jackets with insulated pockets and hand warmers Heat Factory Hand Warmers Bonus 12-Pack - REI.com

The original poster had an issue with hardware in extreme cold. Sadly, the technology is still not there. For many smokers, e cigs are still too much of a PITA. Having to buy special apparel too?

Where I want to see the tech go is ease of use and dependability. Add juice and go. Leaks, coil wrapping, heat and cols blah blah make these things a pain compared to analogs.
